I'm genuinely baffled by people on here.

Where is the actual proof Witsel is dragging his heels? He got back from holiday a week ago and has since then returned to training at the club that pays his wages.

That's it.

People's imaginations are an amazing thing.

Not being funny, but you have been saying for the past few weeks it'll be done Thursday, Friday or it will be done over the weekend. So, you are helping people with their imaginations.

If it's true that he's had our offer for weeks and still hasn't decided he wants to join us... simply cancel negotiations with immediate effect and move on. He's not that much of a world beater to bend over backwards for. For 30m we'll surely find somebody who actually wants to join us and is prepared to live on the pittance of 100k a week.

It's three weeks today since Witsel finished with the Euros.
The start of all the major European leagues are approaching and the majority of players involved in the Euros are back in training.
I think this deal has to happen over this weekend or the club(or player) will just walk away.

Was Zenit who pulled the plug mate on that, but shows that Witsels people are not adverse to making deals and trying to force peoples hands.

Suspect without any knowledge that are trying to play everyone off against each other to get the best possible deal.

Let us agree a fee with Zenit, Zenit announce he will effectively be leaving this summer (which they have done), then fanny us around and play us off against Italian teams who are unwilling to offer the same fee to Zenit, end outcome is either Zenit allow him to move for a lesser fee to Italy for example (and lesser fee = more in his contract i imagine), we decide to force the issue through by increasing our offer to him, or he sits out his contract at Zenit as his bluff is called by both Zenit and us, and he moves on a free next summer for even more money as no fees being paid

The player in this matter is really in a win-win situation as he knows he holds all the cards

I suppose this will be his last big move. He clearly wants to move but probably sees himself as a CL player and so wants that guaranteed too. That is a big problem these days with players. It isn't the 'Champions League' as such, more so the prestige of the club in the eyes of the casual tv fan (Kante leaving the champions for mid table Chelsea a prime example).

I would expect our offer to be more than acceptable for Witsel's team, just that he is aware that he will have to earn the spotlight he craves rather than have it handed on a plate to him, like most modern day mercenary footballers desire.

I love the City of Liverpool and it's surrounding area, but I'm guessing most Belgian Professional Footballers would rather live in Naples than on The Wirral. Just a guess like

Trust me mate, with the money they earn it honestly doesn't matter where they live, he'd be living next door to Ibra and De Gea up manchester way anyway.

Always makes me think of the people who post about the allure of Milan etc compared to Liverpool, obviously written by people who have never ever visited the palce as it is a absolute dump of a city

Witsel is leaving Zenit. None of the Italian stories are credible, Zenit have made no deals with any of them.

Please draw your own conclusions.

The only reason I can see for this hold up would be that Witsel is trying to wait out Pogba deal so he can sign for Juventus.

That is understandable, but if we haven't already, then I hope we will be putting an ultimatum to him soon.
