£30m on a player who is going to be 28 by the end of the season.

We need players in their prime, mate. Witsel will have 4 or 5 years at this level yet. We can't keep buying youngsters and expect to jump into the Champions League, it's about getting the balance right. Invest in youth, keep them, develop them, but also supplement this with quality, proven players in their prime (Witsel), plus experienced been-there-done-that winners. 30m doesn't even buy you an Ighalo any more!
