Aways next season

I find midweek aways are the best by a long shot. They are also the worst if you're not in a group and get unlucky with your seat allocation. My worst ever experience was Chelsea away about 9 years ago in a midweek. We were terrible and. I think 3 or something down in the first half. I was with my wife and had a mob of the worst p*ssed up Blues around us.

Generally I like the big away grounds like Newcastle, Villa and Spurs the best. Next season I'd like to go to Cardiff and Norwich as I've never been to them.

Am gutted Brighton lost out. That would have been brilliant.

I like them the further away the better. Newcastle is sound. Villa's good even though they're always fluking results off us and Chelsea's decent as well as we always have good games and good numbers go there.

No need for that. No harm at all fans having a few but those that time were beyond p*ssed and probably on something as well. They were abusive to everyone around them. They were soon kicked out but it ruined the night.

I'm not crying thanks. I'm just saying sometimes we attract some low life to the aways. Someone going to their first away might want to know that our away support is polarised like most teams.

As it happens I love the opera but when I choose to watch a game of football I won't put up with swearing or abuse.

people swear at the match get in the real world. The reason why grounds and football atmosphere in general have gone downhill is because of people with your attitude. As I said a night at the opera sounds more your scene than an away end full of scousers at Chelsea away

Now if you said they were abusing your Wife then you'd have a point

After a while they were swearing and abusing me and the wife yes. I have no problem swearing at a match. I swear myself all the time - or at least used to when Neville and Naismith were ever on the pitch.

Then you have a point. Although I thought your wife was a Liverpool season ticket holder?

Yes mate she is but a million miles away from the RS loons that most of us can't stand. Before the kids she'd go to loads of aways with me. She wouldn't wear Blue or anything but could have a laugh. She can't stand Rodgers and thinks Suarez is a disgrace etc.

The best for me are Man City, West Ham, Fulham, and Villa. Worst are Man United, Stoke and Newcastle (because of where the away fans are located).

You can expect most people to sit down at a lot of the aways and it's usually a pretty poor atmosphere. That is mostly down to the fact that we rarely win away and the performance the team produces means that the excitement is often taken out of everyone after the first 15 minutes of dire defensive football that we seem to revert to when we're away. There are still a fair few away games where the support is up for the game though and it's just disappointing we don't get more victories. I don't know why our team finds it so hard to grind out 1-0 away wins against the likes of Stoke, Southampton and Reading when we often comfortably beat them at home. It's not as if the atmosphere at those grounds is electric or anything.
