I think it's embarrassing and shocking and bordering on surreal.

A number of people on this forum were praising our performance in the match on Sunday. However i don't, we will not go to the Emirates and get as good a chance to beat Arsenal as we were gifted this Sunday and lost 2 nil. At 55 minutes there only looked 1 winner, 10 minutes later that was the other team. Why were none of the chances taken? There is zero chance Arsenal can be that bad next year, they were horrendous.

We are talking 20+ years at these stadiums of visiting and coming back empty handed. It's utterly pitiful. Its a mentality thing that desperately needs sorting out. Arsenal performed like a mid table / bottom half team on Sunday. Where was the determination from our players to kill the game off, to be ruthless and believe.

I'm sorry but if you put all the games of the runs against these teams together you are going into around 70 games without a single win. It's now at a point where you would be tempted to bet against an Everton win in these games because you already know what's going to happen.

As someone who has sat through every single one of them it is painful to watch and gets worse when it's handed on a plate and you still don't take it. The club has serious deep mentality issues engraved into it and 20 years on its not changing.

Wouldn’t worry about it. Even if we did win there would it change your life? We will be talking about the same thing in ten years time and it does to you is cause stress. They get paid thousands a day and i doubt any of them care.

Farhad Moshiri told me our fab 4 will see us beat these 3 away 16 times a row starting in 2019. Have faith.

Moshiri also said last season in no uncertain terms that playing title contenders were expected losses

That’s when you know the ambition isn’t there

I understand the sentiment behind the post, however to do it after an encouraging performance in which we got done by a lack of quality (our finishing and the standard of refereeing) and not for lack of tactics or effort is a bit much imo.

But why was their a lack of finishing? As I said in the post, Arsenal will not be that bad again.

The game was there for the taking, one of the very rare times that it will be at one of these grounds. Yet we totally messed it up. Which comes back to my point, if we couldn't take advantage of one of these teams at their very worst. When will a game ever be won at one of these stadiums?

It was only an encouraging performance in your words because our opponents couldn't string two passes together for 60 minutes. I think it was a very not encouraging performance because it again highlighted deep problems in the mentality of the club.

When we have the players with the quality to finish the chances, its that simple. I agree there seems to be a mentality thing that means we don't beat these teams but I don't think that's the reason we lost to Arsenal. If we had strikers like Lacazette, Aubameyang or if we still had Rom I'm confident we'd have beaten them.

We used to have lukaku but it was same old story. I even remember we had finally won a game at Stamford bridge about 5 years ago, until a 97th minute undeserved offside equaliser by John Terry. That one including the two offside Aubemayang goals in the last two seasons really does start suggesting that there is an invisible forcefield stopping everton from winning these fixtures.

How does our record compare to other teams around us?

Good question, West ham have recent victories at anfield, spurs, Emirates, Utd (all within the last 10 year's) and Chelsea they last beat in 2002 but West ham have spent time in the championship since then so there's no excuses really. Particularly considering we have been considerably better than them in that time.

Because they have Lacazette and Aubameyang

We have Calvert Lewin & Tosun

Swap those players round and thats a 4-0

I understand the sentiment, as worse team than us have gone there and won games, so yes we have to change the mentality, but that will take time, you cant change a record like that over 2 months

Also as we are probably a big name but not good enough for top teams, i fell the top teams still see playing everton as a "tough" game. Hence they raise there game every time v us. You never see players getting rested, half a*$ed performances etc.
And when better players than ours play at full tilt, the better players tend to win!
