Atmospheres at Goodison this Season

Having been a STH for 10 yrs Ive seen better teams and I've seen some top atmospheres ,a few that stand out Arsenal (3-0 Bobby Manager) and City 4-0 (Koeman).

However this last 3 months I think at least 3 of home games surpassed them all in recent history.

Chelsea
Palace

That doesn't include United and late winner v Newcastle.

I feel it’s been building, with the banners that fan groups have made and the smoke bombs, fan groups organising singing and chanting, coupled with the teams poor position in the league.
There has been a big change, but I feel if we had been on 40 points 5 games ago we would not have seen this.

Under Benitez the atmosphere was poor most weeks.

But under Frank the atmosphere has been magnificent, particularly during the matches against Man Utd, Chelsea and Crystal Palace.

As Frank said after we beat Chelsea: when the players and the fans are as one anything is possible.

We can choose to abuse our players and damage their confidence or we can choose to be a 12th man. Thankfully under Frank we have chosen the latter and we have played a huge part in keeping us up.

The change in atmosphere transformed our season and kept us up.

Under Benitez we got hammered by Watford at home and under Frank we beat Chelsea at home, yet the personnel involved were the same… aside from the fact that we no longer had Digne or James when we played Chelsea under Frank.

Although Frank is a better motivator than Rafael, the big difference was the crowd.

Big Nev said the other day: never underestimate how effective the crowd can be in lifting players psychologically and helping them to give their all.

The 12th man aphorism is so very true. Remember what Howard Kendall said about the Street End sucking the ball into the net against Bayern?
