The idea is mobility and pace. I would give Baines, Gana and Jags a rest in this one cos we play UTD in 2 days. Though we are likely to get bummed, if those 3 are tired then we will get bummed even harder. Play Sigu in his fav position. Put Rooney up top with DCL. Pace and width on the sides. Plenty of options then to change on the bench.

That would be my pick. The Manager is never going to know if Kenny is good enough until he plays him in a competitive match. Davies needs some minutes, Sigurdsson needs to be played as the number 10, DCL needs minutes as the central striker and Vlasic needs bedding in.

However, that team would be good enough to beat a lot of Premier League teams so should do the business on Thursday, but you know Koeman will shoehorn certain players in so it'll be square pegs round holes.

This side may be inexperienced but at the moment we're going nowhere fast with a couple of the older pro's. Our athleticism and energy levels are abysmal. Early substitutions would be the order of the day with this side depending on who was showing inconsistency.

We need a result in Italy of some sort as this will be a tough group, but we need to balance out players who we shouldn't be playing two games every week (e.g. Rooney), resisting the temptation to throw too many kids in but rewarding those who deserve it (Kenny) and recognising where we need to get players to play themselves into form (Davies, Schneiderlin) - on top of that we need to gives the likes of Sandro and Klaassen every opportunity to get used to this team. The only way that happens is them getting minutes
