When we signed the big Fella for a cool £15.9m a lot of fans were outraged at spending that sort of money on a 20 year old Belgian who not many had heard of. Now after going half a season with us what are peoples verdict?!

When I first saw him play for us you could see that he was a presence with a superb first touch that was going to give our midfield something different. He has had to play in a position he wasnt signed for and is doing a decent job is pretty much the 2nd striker to Cahill.

Our midfield has been crying out for a 'complete' midfielder. By this I mean someone who has got it all- can pass, shoot, tackle and has the strength to hold up play. In Fellaini I believe we have this. Im really excited by next season already- if we can keep all of our current squad and even add to it by the time all strikers are fit we could have a hell of a 1st eleven.

Arteta is flourishing in a central role and I think a pairing of Mikky and Fella could give any midfield in Europe a run for their money. With players like the Yak, Saha and Vaughan we will always get goals and add to that our newest 'striker' Cahill the attack looks good.

I honestly do not think we need to spend millions on another central midfielder now- maybe an older player for a couple of million to sit on the bench. The area I think that needs strengthening the most is on the wings- Pienaar is a cracking player and can do a job on the left Ossie is doing ok on the right but I dont think he is a natural wide player.

With Fellaini I think the team could take the next step- move away from the 4-5-1 that has served us so well in the past to grind 1-0 wins but for us to actually take the game to the opposition in a 4-4-2.

Fellaini has a bad disciplinary record, but I have no doubts that will improve when he gets used to the pace of the Premiership. Many of us on here have always said that we need a big presence in the middle, I remember suits in particularly commenting on this- Fellaini gives us the presence we need.

I am particularly disappointed he wont be able to play against the [Poor language removed] because I would have loved to see him boss Gerrard all over the park- but as Chico has said we arent a one man team and we are playing with confidence at the moment- I promise you we will get a win out of one of the games at Anfield- Bring it on!

Definately a HIT! Never thought any different about that. He just has to learn how to adapt to the Premiership. I'm confident that will come with age and experience. His physical presence is counting against him and his challenges often look more clumsy than that they are malicious.

Hit, Cant speak a word of English yet seemes to have fixed the communication problem at the club.

Probably the amount of banter flying around because of his hair (Gary Lineker was awesome last night on MoTD "Scoring with his hair")

Top post mate i agree whole heartedly. It baffled me that some couldnt see it early on. That said he has surpassed my expectations, for such a young player the level of impact and consistencey has been amazing. I agree he needs to be complimented more in midfeild id buy another central midfeilder of quality and look at the wings again. He is still so young and in fairness he needs more expeirence, especially on the discplinnary front and in his defensive game, he really excites me as to how good he can be. I think at times this season he has been unplayable with the timing of a Cahill and the Threat of a Dunc and the fact that hes just a monster.

There is definitely more to come theres an array of passing there that i think weve only seen glimpses of at i think the managers insistance. As for next season im excited as well, but i also think teams will be an awfull lot wiser to him next season, which will be his next challenge.

A hit.

He's not what we needed by any means, he's not the complete central midfielder and he never will be. He's very different though, there is nothing like him in the League at the moment and he'll be a handful for any team. He's a massive presence and he's very akward.

He's looked a lot better in an advanced position. He hasn't proved himself in the centre of midfield yet, hopefully when Saha gets back we can push him alongside Arteta and let him develop there. That's the position he was bought to fill.

I would say hes a massive HIT, but i have a few points.

When he first came i think most of us were thinking he was a DM, so we judged him on that, it was clear he couldnt tackle and he seemed so very 1 paced. I think he struggled at first, new country, new club, new language, 20 years old. It was always going to be tough. I saw the talent, but i admit i did think we had dropped a clanger after a few games.

Then he got settled, then we worked out that he wasnt going to be a Steviegglaar, fat Frank. He was Marouane Fellaini and i dont think ive ever seen anybody play like he does, the lad can not tackle, hes still 1 paced, he doesnt shoot, but his ball retention, his heading, his postioning, his simple 1 touch passing is a joy to behold.

I think we signed the best box to box midfielder in the world, hes the best because hes the only 1 who plays like he does. You can not compare him to anybody else in world football. So how on earth do you stop the unstoppable?

I rate the lad highly, i put him into my Everton Superstars club, which at present has the following membership : Arteta, Cahill, Yakubu, Lescott, Jagielka, Fellaini. Stevie P is knocking on the door.

A hit definatly. He's not perfect and has a long way to go but he has definatly been a success here so far.

What will be interesting is what happens if/when we get a decent striker who can take Cahill's place up front. They didn't really work all that well together earlier in the season and with Nevilla/Arteta playing so well it seems they'll both be fighting for the same spot. Interesting selection dilemma for Moyes.

Totaly agree with you mate, never will be a complete midfielder, never going to control a game like fabregas, Keane, Reid etc, but he's very good at what he does, hopefully the bookings will reduce as he gets a bit of experience, overall a Hit!:)

For such a young lad to adapt to the Premiership so quickly in the position he is in is no mean feat. Definately the potential is there for him to develop nicely into the complete midfielder we want him to be and to justify his price tag.

Definately a HIT, and an invaluable player to have this season.

After a slow start, he is most definitely a HIT. Its now got to the stage were if he isnt playing we miss him badly. Screech makes us tick upfront and is involved in most of Evertons good play
