On a serious note, what's your opinion on the Fellaini midfield conundrum? Do you like Fellaini further forward or would you rather see him deeper?

I think it's easier to find someone to replace him in front of the back four than it is to replace him behind Jelavic. He's capable of 10+ goals. Unless Naismith or Mirallas put a case forward for playing in the hole ahead of him, stick with it.

Peter Crouch £10,000,000
Wilson Palacios £8,000,000
Kenwyne Jones £8,000,000
Robert Huth £5,000,000
Bryan Ruiz £10,600,000]
Moussa Dembele £5,000,000
Andrew Johnson £10,500,000
Bobby Zamora £5,800,000
Craig Gardner £6,000,000
Connor Wickham £8,000,000
Asamoah Gyan £13,200,000
Stephane Sessegnon £6,000,000
Lorik Cana £5,000,000
Darren Bent £16,500,000
Lee Cattermole £6,000,000

Stoke's team today also contained Pennant (free), Wilkinson (free), Shotton (free), Whelan (£660k), Shawcross (£1.3m), Cameron (£1.8m) and Walters (£2.9m). The only signings costing over £5m were Huth, Crouch and Palacios.

Sunderland's opening day side contained Saha (free), Cuellar (free), Larsson (free), Colback (free), Meyler (£180k), McLean (£350k), Elmohamady (£2.2m) and Mignolet (£2.2m). Only Gardner, Sassegnon and Cattermole cost over £5m.

But in fairness, both of these teams are **** and not a patch on the side Moyes has built.
Just saying like.

I agree. My point was that, however much they might have spent in the past, the vast majority of the teams in the division aren't able to field sides with 'premium' players in each position. Maybe they've overspent and had to recoup or players haven't lived up to expectations, but either way most sides from about 7th down have been largely put together with bargain basement signings.

None of our defenders yesterday cost less than about £3.5m and the only players to cost us nothing were Osman and Naismith. Plus we brought over £12m of talent on. Fair play to Moyes for wheeling and dealing but it is a valid point that our team is pretty expensive compared to a lot of our rivals and so it shouldn't be too much of a surprise if we outperform them.

Look at the match ups from yesterday:

Howard £3m v Given £3.3m
Neville £3.5m v Lowton £3.3m
Jagielka £4.5m v Vlaar £3.3m
Distin £5.5m v Baker Free
Baines £6.6m v Clark Free
Gibson £0.5m v Herd Free
Osman Free v El Ahmadi £2.4m
Naismith Free v Bannan Free
Pienaar £4.5m v N'Zogbia £9.5m
Fellaini £15m v Delfouneso Free
Jelavic £5m v Bent £18.9m

£48.1m v £40.7m

Bent accounts for about half of their figure and they had 5 youth players in the side.

Yeah but when people are saying what a job Moyes has done it's in assembling an expensive team on a low net spend. That isn't easy. We've spent 87 million less net than Villa in the last ten years and have a more expensive and better team on the pitch. That's excellent buying and selling.

You can't pretend thats not part of his job.

And lets do the same for United hey, may as well innit :

Howard £3m v De Gea 19m
Neville £3.5m v Valencia 16m
Jagielka £4.5m v Vidic 7m
Distin £5.5m v Carrick 18m
Baines £6.6m v Evra 5.5m
Gibson £0.5m v Scholes Free
Osman Free v Cleverley Free
Naismith Free v Kagawa 12m
Pienaar £4.5m v Nani 13m
Fellaini £15m v Rooney 27m
Jelavic £5m v Welbeck Free

£48.1m v £117.50

They made subs worth £58m in total

I like this game!

Th Everton Myth
I don't know what it is about the media and their attitude towards Everton. But they have somehow managed to Jedi mind-tricked every f*cker who talks about them.

How does David Moyes do it? They don't have a pot to p*** in. Well...

Howard £3m. Jagielka £4m. Distin £5m. Heitinga £6mil. Baines £6m. Neville £3.5m. Gibson £2m. Pienaar £4.5m. Felliani £13m. Marallas £6m. Jelavic £6m.

Now that potential starting XI cost a whopping £60million to assemble. So if you are wondering how a top-ten club, with top-ten players, with a top-ten budget, with a top-ten manager manage to finish inside the top ten every season with a slight challenge for the European places....then common f***ing sense should tell you how. It's not a miracle. It is what it is. WAKE UP! I am sick of Moyes getting over-the-top praise for finishing in the top ten, on the whole, for ten years. He finished fourth once, but that is instantly challenged with a 17th place to go against it.

Also, for those canny people who will say well they sold Lescott for £24million and Arteta for £10mil to pay for a lot of the above...well those two players cost £5mil to add onto the signings of Yakubu £12m, Bilyaletniov £10m (sold for £6m), Andy Johnson £9m, Kroldup £5m and Saha £4m in recent years for not a lot of recuperation.

Moyes is not a messiah, he is a good manager at a top-ten club...who by the way has won f*** all. In ten years of stability for a club like Everton, I would say that is a disapointment if anything.

That person also didn't mention the little matter of selling Wayne Rooney for around £25.6m. That just about covers the other signings he mentions at the end. Also, Saha wasn't signed for £4m, it was about half that.

Everton have one of the smallest net spends in the Premiership and pay some of the lowest wages.

The person who wrote that post is not only incredibly bitter, but hasn't a clue what he's talking about.

We have done very well in that respect, but would it be the same story if he didn't have to do it out of necessity? If Moyes had as much money to spend as Villa would he have bought more Bilyaletdinov's and Kroldrup's instead of Cahill's and Arteta's?
