2024/25 Ashley Young

He smashed it down the middle, there'll be a stat out there for how often a keeper dives left or right but I'm not of the "heatmap producing, don't go the game coz it's more fun to bicker on the Internet" generation so I can't provide it. His pen was miles better than Onanas.
Ha ha, how low we have sunk that we are ranking which unconverted penalties are "better".

I can't work out what prompted Young to sign another contract. He is a very wealthy man who has had a glittering career, but, he is tarnishing the memory of that career by continuing to play. His legs have gone, he must be just as aware of that as we are. It's a shame, but, the way things are going, people will remember Ashley Young as the walking yellow card and laughing stock, that played for Everton for two terrible seasons. Similar could be said for Coleman, although he is still able to pull a performance out once in a while.
The likes of Young are money hungry mercenaries - can't have enough.

No different to the likes of Andy Longernan hanging around kicking balls at Pickford in training for a 4 or 5k a week. Pretty much get paid to have a kick around - not sure why we can't blood an upcoming lad to do this..

Yeah, see what you mean, the thing is though Lonergan may well need the money he was getting and he didn't exactly have a top reputation to protect. Young though is different. He has been ear ing millions a year for a long time now and had a very good career. He clearly doesn't need the money and he is tarnishing the way football history will view his career.

You're an embarrassment

Same, I thought the saints lads must have missed it because they just didn’t seem to react. Young couldn’t believe his luck.

Everything about Young is screaming the mind is willing but the body is finished.
I think that sums it up well.

Ashley Young more than any other player may be the cause of SD either getting sacked or not getting a contract extension.

My biggest problem with Young is that he's a first team regular.

In many regards signing a fella who at 39 is in very good physical condition, has bags of experience and can be a great example to younger players on preparation, lifestyle etc. is no bad thing.

As a stop gap. Bringing in during emergencies. Problem is I rather suspect he joined anticipating a regular role and our manager seens very keen on shoe horning him in at any and every opportunity.
I’d agree with your second paragraph if he was on £2,000 a week which is a damn sight more than most people. However, he’s no doubt on much more than that and we can’t afford that given our perilous financial position.
