Given the circumstances, it's probably one of the better signings we could hope for. That's not justifying the reasons behind why that is the case like.

Its not even about Young for me. I'm sure a case can be made for him.
I just look at the club, and just see us repeating the same mistake over and over again and never learning. It's like the reality staring them in the face never becomes clear.
I hope he does well. It's not his fault. But we just keep going with a flawed system..

We don't have a pot to piss in? We have a terrible DoF? We have a terrible owner? We have a terrible chairman? We have a mediocre manager?
The key point is also, if you keep signing old players for high wages, you continue to have financial problems. So it just entrenches the problem.
So why would you whack PL wages on a player we don’t need for one season?

We do, we have inadequate cover at fullback, we have limited midfield options, we have a small squad of actual useful players. I don't want this calibre of player at our club, but this is where we are thanks to the point above.

Both clubs are signing players in their late thirties.
By your logistics if City signed him it would be the bargain of the decade.
We have 2 actual RB’s, Garner and CB’s that can play there.
We have Myko and, like Young, right-footers that can play there. Young is better there than the likes of Godfrey but I want none of them there.
If we don’t have a pot to piss in you don’t then go and down more water.
But almost any if the details wont change the basis mate. Hes not going to improve here and hes bot going to be worth more money. It is dead money again.

Myko gets injured like the end of last season, we have a disaster filling in for him whether its Godfrey or Holgate. I don't want to see Garner back there, he's a center midfielder we should be building around. I too want none of them here, I think you're mistaking what I want versus what is actual attainable, and I think the penny might be dropping for how much of a band-aid job this season is going to be so that we can limp into the new stadium, whatever help that is going to bring us on the field.
It's also worth saying Young is not a left back. He is a right footed winger, who lost his pace so wasnt good enough to play as a winger.
