Honestly I'm always optimistic, but we do seem to have passed a tipping point in my mind. I see absolutely no reason not to think we can and will finish in the top 4, with the caveat of IF ROM DOES NOT GET HURT.

I asked in this humble forum at the beginning of the season, what was our ceiling if Rom, Ross, Gerry, and Stones all began to reach their potential on a consistent basis? We're seeing that now finally, and the results are there to see.

There's no excuse for not finishing above Spurs, Leicester, West Ham, Soton, and that other team the plays near Stanley Park - not with the squad we have now. Baines and Jags coming back from injury only makes us stronger and deeper.

Lads, if we're going to do this, this is the season with the hole Chelsea have dug for themselves.

The stars are aligning. Can't you lot see it? Two years ago United fell and we blew our chances. This time it's Chelsea who have fallen.

This is our second chance lads. COYB.

I think we'll finish in the chasing pack and just miss out on 4th

Still, if you guaranteed me right now that we could finish 6th and win the League Cup, I'd probably take it to be honest
I'd snap your hand off for it.

6th on its own would be acceptable after last season tbh

Until we can put 2 wins together we don't have a hope in hell of getting top 4. Our downfall will be what it has always been, no killer instinct to turn draws into wins...

Let's be honest. We should be getting 18 points from the next six games. People will say I'm getting ahead of myself but come on, we've got the quality to do each one of those teams 3-0.

Top 4? If the clubs who are in the Champions League don't sort themselves out there wont be a top four anymore, need those sides to get into the knockouts if they can.

Bell patrol update:

I am so sick of this "lets count our chickens" in November tosh. We still have 25 games to go!

Get a grip, we are equal 9th ffs! 4 of our 5 wins have come against poor/down in form WBA, Sunderland, Aston Villa and Chelsea sides.

If you want something to get excited about, then it should be the league cup!

Take it one game at a time you bunch of fangirls!

Christ on a bike....

Agree 100%

but we've beaten better teams in the league than the cup ;)

Never realised he was such a fan! I guess looking back at the movie title now gives it away.

Such a deeper meaning come to think of it...

Being in jail (End of Moyes' tenure)
Chasing after the Diamond (Ross Barkley)
Getting to Mexico (European Football)

*head explodes*

Top four ATM consists of Leicester, City, Arsenal and United. Leicester will fall away, City are likely champions but when they don't turn up they can be beaten by any side, Arsenal are Arsenal - They'll be great until January suffer injuries and potentially fall away. United am still yet to be sold on.

.

I was with you until you said Arsenal will fall away. They might but Arsenal.being Arsenal.being they will finish top 4.

its pretty simple. City, United, Arsenal will finish top 4. As poor as the Manchester clubs have looked they'll get it done and if Wegner knows how to do anything, its qualify for champions league. That leaves us, spurs, and the RS as the main contenders for the other spot. possibly a late surging Chelsea (unlikely but never know) or Leicester if they manage to play well vs better opposition. Basically our typical battle for "best of the rest" with Spurs and liverpool has turned into a battle for CL due to Chelsea's collapse so far. Need to take advantage of these "favorable/winnable" fixtures which kept us out of it in Martinez's first season as we dropped too many points in those situations
