Great find Dylan

(seems ages since I spoke to you)

I think the world is waking up to us.

Two excerpts that I have selected grabbed me:

******

"The work ethic of the sides he sends out, however, mean Everton maintain the bond between player and supporter that many clubs have lost amid delusions of grandeur and continued calls for investment."

That is what we are all about. Regardless of how we show it, we epitomise that statement.

Example : In this forum we have positive members, and negative members. But we are all either side of the same coin.

A huge Toffee tasting Blue one.

"But where could Moyes go? It is inconceivable Moyes could manage Liverpool. Manchester United and Arsenal benefit from the long-term stability of managers who are averse to alternative offers and retirement. There may be vacancies at Chelsea and Manchester City first, but both seem certain to look abroad, and Merseyside only feels like another country. Clubs in the Champions League - or, in City's case, aiming to be there - often only hire managers with a pedigree in Europe. Which leaves the league's third-longest serving manager at Goodison Park, quietly providing an example to the whingers and whiners of his profession with no strikers and no excuses."

Regardless of how, and who advised, Bill kenwright had faith in this young manager.

This manager has now turned into something I doubt any of us could have imagined.

I can guarantee every single one of us had doubts when he took over. By heck has he shut us all up.

I (as you all know) am a huge admirer of Moyes. But not even myself thought he was going to be this talismanic.

(I am sober for this one, unlike normal. hic)

Its a nice article, but im not likeing the linkage away from the club, ive thought for a while Moyesy has been hiting a glass roof with us and given his ambition i wouldnt be surprised or blame him for seeking a more financialy viable club. To be honest the fact (as much as we know) he hasnt been offered a job with a fair bit of wedge dumbfounds me, not that im complaininng.

Our saving grace hopefully will be improved investment of some shape or form in the next three years.

Hes just signed a 70k a week contract mate, thats hardly peanuts and im fairly sure puts him quite high in terms of highest paid managers.

Hopefully mate, there is always a doubht in my head if a club with a bit of wedge to spend on players comes in for him and could offer him similar terms, i honestly think its stupidity by other clubs that he hasnt been poached yet. Not to get into the the debate but that why i feel the new stadium is so improtant to us, we need to give Moyes the tools to acheive his ambitions. Either by investment or progressing the club in revenue terms. I beleive hes hit a glass ceiling with us, i really do, i think he would have left in the summer only for his loaylty to the players who signed long term contracts, a geniuine affection to the club, and a loyalty to Bill.

Not that i want it to happen but i beleive its only time before hes poached unless the club can offer him the oppurtunity ot compete with is peers as i beleive his ambitions will get the better of him. That is of course unless we can offer him this at Everton.

As regard the contract, well these days it just really dictates how much compinsation one club pays the other if they want a man.

Its clear he hasnt been supported by the club as well as he should be. If we had just a little bit more money the things the man could do for us would be amazing. And i must admit, its a surprise nobody has come calling for him.

But whos to say they havent, we know about Newcastles supposed interest in him, but whos to say other clubs havent had a sniff and been told thanks but no thanks or maybe thats just wishful thinking on my part. I think most clubs realise that he has unfinished business and the work hes doing is long term.

But who would be interested? I could maybe see Fergie bigging him up if the time ever comes for him to leave, but thats a few years away, Chelsea will always want a top European face, same with the RS and maybe the same with Arse. Citys next manager wont be British, i think the Kaka saga has showed them that Hughes isnt the man to attract top players. So that leaves the rest of the "big clubs", Villa have MON, might be interesting if he was ever to leave, Spurs would be 1 place i could see him going too, but i think the fact that they sack a manager every week would possibly put him off, Newcastle are a joke club and are no better off than us in terms of spending, not now anyway. So that leaves the the rest of the League, i cant see him ever wanting to join a team below us.

The other teams would be the 2 Scottish clubs, more so Celtic, so lets hope Strachan keeps his job for a long time. But you never know, if Ramos can be manager of Real Madrid, Moyes could be manager of the WORLD.

This "Moyes needs another club" stuff is getting on my nerves. In reality who could he go to? Investment aside, he wants to manage at the highest level, but he has not won a cup, not managed abroad, and his experience in Europe is limited.

That to me rules him out of many jobs.

I'm a big, big fan, but the reality is that none of the sky four would want him, and he's simply too good for the rest of the league. The only club who might match his ambition is Tottenham, but would he want to spend 3 years totally re-building their joke of a team?

Assuming that he wanted to up his game (and that's a big assumption) he would either have to go abroad, or to Scotland to manage one of the big two there.

Its hard to know mate, there all good arguements, its hard to predict what Moyes would see as tempting and not, when i see Spurs spend close to 30 mill in January i do wonder. It depends really whos in vouge, i mean McClaren, Curbishly, Alladyce and now wobbily head have been protrayd as the second comings at different stages. Clubs will eventually take note or as you say may already have done.

I guess its a question of do you think Moyes will finish out his manigrial career with us with whats been offered to him to progress up untill now, id have to say no, and the fact that we have progressed to a level were we are averaging Europe every season with those resources and the club not being able to provide any more to make the leap worries me in terms of Moyesys ambitions and dirve.

Seven years is a long time, a couple of years more threading water or staying exactly where we are, without Moyes feeling he is being as supported as his peers, i think will see him either being poached or consider wheather to resign again. I hope not.

Who knows the way football is going a club can have billions over night either us or another club who could see Moyes as the man, but this is not gaurenteed. As such its important for the club to progress, in terms of supporting the manger even if its only to the tune of 6 mill a year (which i dont beleive it is) or appear to be atractive to potential investors. I think the majority of his decison to re-sign was down to loaylty to the team he built and the players he got to sign long term contracts, the next time his contract comes up for renewal some of those players will be in the advent of their careers which i think will colour his thinking. Or i can see a scenario that an offer will come in for him three years into his contract by a club with wedge and he may want to leave or he wont sign a new contract, the club if we wants to go will want some form of compo and if he wants to go he will. Cue quotes about, contract running out, 10 years of service, couldnt stand in his way by Bill. Im hoping it wont happen but at the same time im realistic.

That said if things stay exactly as they have been i beleive we will loose Moyesy in the next three years. Just my honest opinion.

Spurs did sell 50m worth of attacking talent in the Summer and then spent about 35m, now as you say they have spent another 30, thats only really an outlay of 15m, now whilst Moyes can only dream of such a net spend, its still a job that as you say needs a lot of work and your expected to do it overnight.

But its clear something needs to be done, the board needs to match Moyes and the fans ambition, they cant, so untill we get somebody in that can, we just have to hope that Moyes loves the club as much as we do.

Heres hoping mate!(y)

What if his ambition is just to keep pushing everton as far as he can? What if that has always been the case? Its not a bad ambition is it considering that this is a truly great old club of the league, a sleeping giant if ever there was one. Using ingenuity and resourcefulness instead of great wads of cash what can be achieved? No-one knows but with the contract moyes has just signed surely he now has the scope to find out. There is no-one better equipped for such an endeavour.

(*preys not to have to swallow words in future)

Lets face it.

To the outside eye all Moyes has done is turn PremierLeague strugglers into European place challengers.

Not that that isn't a great acheivment and mark of a great manager, but to other so called bigger clubs they are going to look at success in terms of winning things. They will want someone who has done a lot more than that.

His European record is pretty crap so that is gonna count against him as well.

We might recognise and appreciate the good job Moyes has done here but in the football world of big money and glamour boys Moyes doesn't yet fit in.
