Theres no doubt hes been lacking a bit by his standards the past few months - as has our midfield as a whole.

I'd like to see Arteta brought into the centre. Might give him a bit of life and add desperately needed composure in the centre of our midfield.

Oh - and maybe prevent him dictating every set piece.

In the summer we need a left winger desperately, then we could get Pienaar right wing and have a better looking midfield, maybe even pushing Arteta behind the front two when needed.

Hes movement and play in midfield was so brilliant vs Fiorentina, not sure in the past two games though, hes been carrying an injury for most of the season though. Hopefully he can pull one out of the hat against Liverpool and be back to his very best.

I'd like to see him move infield, if not for the 90 minutes then maybe a half or so.His set pieces are sub standard lately,Stevie P has shown what he can do, and i think Baines ( when selected ) should be taking 50% of corner kicks and free kicks from our right. I just think Arteta's workload is too high at the moment and is subsequently affecting his overall quality of distribution and dead ball situations.

Think his set-pieces are the worst part of his game, the amount of corners he takes that fail to clear the first defender are unforgivable for a player of his talent.
Was interested to see Johann Vogell sign for Blackburn (I think) thought he would have been a good addition.

I disagree compleatly, think Arteta is more affective out on the wing for many reasons, firstly i think he gets less heat out there in the sense that his positional play is very good for receiving the ball, if you watch him he will sit in a hole where there is enough space to attack a fullback, but also a space where it is difficult for a rightsided midfeild player to track back to him. If he was in the centre i think it would be easy to snub him out of a game bu ganging up on him.

Secondly if you also watch him he does sometimes drift into the centre but only when he sees a space adding to options in an attacking sense but is excellent at reverting back to the wing to keep the shape of the side when play breaks down.

Thirdly both he and Pienaar are a great option to have on the wings because they can play on either flank,0 if you notice in some games they switch quite often, baffleing the opposition and stretching their system.

In short i think he would get to much heat in the centre and as resilient and strong as i think he has become i dont think hed hack it against the cynical Robbie Savages of this world or against Pompeys giant five man midfield!

I know his set peices are incosistant but the majority of them are not bad, remember Grav was our main set pice taker before him, now he was bad!

vaughan, cahill, johnson and arteta have all been 'risked' or played whilst not 100% fit/carrying injury.

in artetas case, its noticeable (looks sp to me) that his crossing and dead ball deliveries have been lacking, its not like anyone is expecting a constant stream of world class through balls, crosses and free kicks, but to say he has suffered is an understatement.

its been said his injury is a possible hernia, next time he goes for a big hit with his right foot, watch him not the ball, is he wincing when he connects? is there a little skip as he lands his right foot?

What the [Poor language removed] going on?

Didn't Ossie have play in December with a broken toe cause we were short in midfield or something?

Its a risk that sometimes you have to take but it seems to be happening rather too much.

As for Arteta, he has been pretty average all season. Regardless of why he really hasn't shone on more then a few occasions. I think before he was always a diamond in among a pile of [Poor language removed] but since Pienarr arived and the team as a whole have got better he himself has looked average.

I hope it is due to carrying an injury of some sort which is affecting him. He is a class player on his day and always capable of doing soemthing special so he is worth having. If its not due to an injury then we really need someone else to take dead balls.

Nice avatar death.

Arteta is an enigma. And he is aslo Spanish. Hot like the burning Glave plucked from the molten magma high in the mountain by Prince Colwyn and cold like the heart of the Black widow in the same movie.

He's tempremental, and the best player at the club. His set peices all year have been awful by his standards. Always too long, or too short. How annoying are his corners? We used to mix up the free kicks but it seems Arty has a morgage on them now. And when was the last time we scored from one? Or his set pieces in general?

Who would you rather take them? No doubt Pienaar can swing em in, but most of the rest of the team youd rather see on the end of a fine cross.

He's gifted but headstrong. Creative but tempremental. He doesnt fly off the handle but I reckon he sulks.

Its a good thing, and we have to look after the 'tater.

Feed the Yak and he will score...
Feed Arteta, straight from the top draw.
