I've been impressed with Mikel Arteta of late, his all round play from open play has improved dramatically. Especially over the last two games where he's dictated and ran games.

I think him moving from right to left has benefitted him alot, I don't mind him on the right but I don't think he gets involved enough. He sticks to the byline alot, doesn't come looking for the ball and tries to play like a out and out winger.

On the left he has to cut inside and get involved in his more natural central position. He was cutting inside against Standard and putting his foot on the ball, I haven't seen him do that in a long time. Obviously as he showed against Liege aswell he has the ability to go both ways and he can hit the byline also.

He's our best midfielder, we need him involved at all times and playing him on the left has definatly involved him more in my opinion. Good to see him getting back to his best.(y)

I think he looks fresh and fitter what he doesnt get a lot of credit it for his determination and he puts in alot of work too.

Has to be said though he could do with some help in the creative dept, he was to easy identifiable in the liege game as our main creative force. If plan A doesnt work in terms of getting the ball in to the box its give it to Arteta and see what he can do. I feel we could do with some extra creativity coming from the centre, a ball carrier specifically, if we had Arteta and the pieman coming from the flanks and a threat i.e. a ball carrier i think we would be far more effective going forward. It was intresting to see on thurs that when leige were at thier the most vulnerable was when Arteta and Vaughan broke from central positions there defenders didnt know wheather to come to the runner or stay with the forwards.

I dont think it matter which wing he goes on, once Pienaar is back he will swap throughout the match with him, which i always like :)

However as for it being his best position...hes best in the center i think...

He's been superb lately, although the one concern is how exposed he leaves the left back defensively. It shouldn't matter quite so much when we have a couple of holding midfielders in there as they can do his donkey work for him.

According to Sharpy he started to get hold of things when he moved to the centre, he was definatly starting alot of our attacks in our purple patch.

If only we had a natural winger, Arteta would probably get alot more chances centrally. Sadly Osman is piss poor out there and Van der Meyde isn't going to get a game.

May I remind you that I stated some time ago that I'd have him on the left if he wasn't to play in the center, claiming that his play would benefit from cutting inside which would give the team more options on the ball? b)

He can go to the byline or to the center...it gives us more firepower and mor inner play when it's needed.

After watching the second half against Hull he looked really good in the middle. If we had wingers I'd play him there, sadly we don't. Arteta is our only player capable of beating players so he's got to play outwide.

He's a better player on the left. He has alot more room with Lescott/Baines and/or Pinnear over there. On the right he gets the [Poor language removed] kick out of him by the 3-5 players who are ignoring Neville. Sometimes though, when Pinnear is back I still think we need him on the right side to balance up the attack.

Hes good in the center when Cahill is there to take pressure off him.
