Arteta is finally going to win a title isn't he?

I don’t even understand his second point. “We get punished for things related to our identity” wtf does this even mean.
I took that as either decisions went against them because they're Arsenal, or because of how he's made Arsenal play - e.g. time-wasting snides.

I watched that game in full, and Southampton should have put that tie to bed long before their late goal; they were the better side!

All the nonsense spoken about Arsenal bottling it.

They'll win the league without a shadow of a doubt IMO.

If they can add some genuinely world class midfielders in the summer they can put a run of a few titles together. Rice is excellent but I think they can upgrade on Zubimendi and Odegaard.
I think Zubimendi is elite, does nothing flashy but has that Spaniard's knack for reading the play and setting the tempo. Any team that wants to challenge for silverware needs a player like him. C.F. Rodri at City, Casemiro at Madrid, and so on. A water carrier. He has made Arsenal a better team this year. I think he is a little out of form (perhaps running out of steam - understandable for first year in the prem) but class is permanent.

100% agree with Odegaard. Fun to watch as a neutral but ultimately I think he is pants, very flashy when the pressure is off but cannot kick a ball properly when its needed (how many opportunities does he squander in big moments???!) and goes missing in the big games. Giving him the captain's armband says a lot about Arsenal imo!

Where they are lacking is genuine attacking, creative quality. Someone to try and an unusual through ball or take a few players on in tight spaces. They keep buying these very technical, solid players but have neglected risk takers and flair players with individualism. Even Eze as their 'flair' option is on the conservative side. When you see them start Trossard, Havertz and Martinelli it makes you realise the gulf between them and the likes of City, who had Cherki, Semenyo and Doku in behind Haaland the other day.

Point taken on Zubimendi.

As for the attack: I think Gyorkes is limited but definitely hands them a different way of making the breakthrough. They do need a playmaker though and it sounds like they've made contact with Dani Olmo.

Cherki: something I dont like about him.

Dani Olmo would be a very Arsenal signing. A good cog in a machine, but not an out and out, goal from nothing creator

Tbh I'd be starting that Dowman in the 10, looks like the kind of lazy, languid risk taker they need

Arteta would never, learnt too much from Moyes!

Dowman is enjoying it out on the wing that buys a bit of time on the ball. In the middle he'd be swamped at this stage of his career IMO.

He's good, but he's not Rooney-good. At that age Rooney was able to do a job anywhere.

Fair, although thought he looked fine when he moved there against Southampton on Sunday... But that was Southampton

Saka is a great player but they don't have much in addition to him, which leads to them overplaying him

Always a strange one when you look at Arteta, player under Moyes, Coach under Pep.
He grabs the Moyes style over the Pep style..

Maybe just too much time in England.
Would he completely change his approach back in spain..

He's a good player. Looks strong too which will help. Just looks like he's prone to take on one too many players and break down attacks as much as join in with them or create them atm though.

Push him inside and and lose the ball there and Arsenal could be in a lot of trouble from counter attacks.

I think they are the strongest side in it now, not sure on Real, Bayern - maybe, PSG will probably fall over trying to score 20 against the tricky reds and hand them a 0-1 in the process.

Two years ago they were the most exciting team to watch in the prem; really fluid attacking football with plenty of flair and risk taking. However they didn't win it and I think Arteta has since changed his style to play the percentages. He definitely appears to value a different profile of player as well, much more physically robust, positionally disciplined, and direct.
