Arteta has been stinking the place out for the past few weeks.

it was a girls stamp and even there players reaction after he seeing the ref walking over stank of [Poor language removed] but lets be honest at the end of theday you cant go around condoning that [Poor language removed] ...if you want go in hard on the player and make it look like you try to play the ball or just do a "cahill special" and dont get caught

but hey at least its someone else turn at corners and freekicks ....:)

Or do a Joey Barton or Mike Williamson you mean? That's great company to be in

Right, well how did you feel about Gerrard going two footed on Hibbert years back? or was it Naysmith? anyway, how did you feel about that?

Come on mate, you can't have one rule for one and one for another. Arteta ****ed up big time and I think he should be holding his handup.

A better man doesn't do that, he stays on the pitch and plays a bit of football to get us back in the game. Arteta red card = game over.

Theres a difference in a bad challenge like say the Nolan/Anichebe challenge, thats a totaly unclaaed for challenge, but if you go in to do another player like Jara did on Saturday then you expect our team not to let him away with that. It happens to Cahill every game, he gives a bit of stick teams give it back not to get pushed around and he gets on with it. I have no prob with Arteta did on Sat like i say for me he only got caught. I would have no complaints if one of our players went in hard and unfairly on another player and then got similar treatment from the opposition in fact id expect it.

You can't excuse what he did mate, and if the shoe was on the other foot you'd be singing a very different tune. Surprised at you here, really am.

No i genuinely beleive it, though the situation was totally avoidable by the ref, it happed to us in the past poor old Andy johnson used to get a pasteing, Pienaar get it from time to time, what happend to Baines was criminal and there needed to be a reaction, lets not fool ourselves it goes on in every game, Arteta just got caught. Mofro got done last year in the Dearby by Kyriakos for knocking a load of there players around.

Like i say after Mikel was sent of Cahill, racked his boot down the back of Jaras calf, nasty stuff, was worse then Mikels for me, which was just intent, no real contact.

Its a mans game like, you dish it out and take it, i dont go in for all that fake Jamie Redknapp shock and high moral standards you get on Sky and on the radio. Its all rubbish.

From what I've read in the El Classico, the Madrid players went to break Messi's legs and was on the end of an elbow or 2 in the face...

How did Messi react? Played out of his skin.

That's how you repay thuggery in football. You humiliate them with skill.

Arteta and Cahill didnt.

Well your wrong mate, massively massively wrong. There is no room in the game for anyone to stamp on anyone, regardless of the situation, and if you support him because he's an Everton player for doing such an act, then I'm sorry mate - your acting like a Kopite.

I like you mate, but your way out of line here.

Put him out on the right wing as "punishment". He and Coleman could do a Pienaar/Baines type double act.

Did he actually catch him? I've only seen one replay, and it's hard to say whether he gets him at all from that angle. Jara doesn't seem to know anything about it until everyone starts running over. I think it was the stamping motion rather than the actual contact that got Mikel sent off. Unless someone can show me a better angle...

Jara went in with two feet, he's putting himself in a dangerous position. If he gets stamped or landed on, he's only got himself to blame really. Arteta should have been more wise and experienced in that position though.

Even if he didn't connect, the intent was there. He made a big mistake. He gets one from me, but he has to learn, and he has to learn very quickly.

To be honest, 3 games out could be just what he and we need.

It probably was, but even if the player didn't mean it, there's always a massive risk of landing on someone, especially when you look at the way Arteta controls the ball. Jara dives in with two feet whilst Arteta has the ball under control, almost with his back to him. That's dangerous play, and if you put yourself in that position, there's always a chance that you'll get hurt.

I wouldn't disagree with the red card, but I'm not sure I'd go along with comparing that situation to Gerrard's or even Fellaini's incidents. Not only is there little to no contact, but his body shape and the way he's controlling the ball puts him in a completely different position.

A stamp is a stamp though mate and regardless of what has happened prior, it's no excuse.

Not sure if this has been addressed already on this thread - But isn't this like, the second time he's got himself sent off around the the lead up to the Christmas period ? Maybe he needs to fly back home to do some all important shopping , Spanish style ?! :)

I disagree, a player could fall on another accidentally but land on them in a stamping motion. Especially when the player who's diving in is doing so dangerously.

Ok, so he didn't do it on purpose then? Is that what your saying?

That's not the point, you said a stamp is a stamp, and I'm arguing that that's not the case. They aren't always clear cut red cards, especially when the players who's diving in is doing do dangerously and putting himself in a position where he's vulnerable. How do you separate a deliberate stamp from a heavy, accident fall. Should they both be sent off?

Fellaini, for example, didn't get sent off during the Liverpool game last season, why? I think the ref saw that Kyriakos put him in a position where his feet could land anywhere. That incident as a proper stamp, much worse than Arteta's. I think his decision could have gone either way depending on the referee, and that's the way I'd view it really. Not overly bothered by the ref's decision, it happens, but hardly thuggery either.
