The skill involved in painting this is beyond my comprehension.

I’ve never been overly keen on hyper realism. Often seems like artists wanting a good ego stroking to me. Sure it’s a great skill but I don’t get the point

I appreciate that. I like the modern realism when the subjects/portrayals are unorthodox and unlikely to be found in reality. I do dislike the hyper-real portraits, since a photograph will suffice.

Yeah I get that. I’ve got a couple of mates who do similar stuff and it looks torturous to do

Went to Nice a few summers in a row ~ten years ago. Iirc there's a fair few cool sculptures in the grounds there. Never realised it was a library tho!!
