Are we too nice?

Depends really, if it's at an important part of the match then being aggressive and/or reckless is far from professional.

Maybe nice is the wrong word, perhaps we are not manipulative enough in the game. I'm talking hounding a ref if there's a bad challenge on one of our players like the weekend. Feigning injury to waste time at the end of the game. There's plenty of things that we could be doing without crossing a line that could actually benefit us in a game.

Ever since Moyes left we have become too nice - nice guys win nothing. I remember posting something similar in a previous thread a while back, along the lines of people saying we shouldn't moan about the ref because that's 'a kopite,' thing to do. Come on, seriously?!

People moaned about us being "too nice" all the time under Moyes too, to be fair.

I meant in a relative manner, we're much nicer now than we ever were then. I remember in the 3-3 vs United when he ran onto the pitch when Jagielka was through, how some of the players would surround the ref at times. Could have been the fact we had a captain that was actually vociferous and not just a 'yes man,' as Jagielka seems to be.

FIFA has brought in that new law, that states if a player gets in a ref's face, and the ref doesn't like it, it's a yellow. About time I think. Football is the only sport I know of, where a player can call an official " a f.....g moron ", and nothing happens...even though in a lot of cases he is a f.....g moron!

The problem is refs are inconsistent that's were the frustration is, also there is a lot of con artists/cheats in the game now which makes it more difficult. Look at last weeks game with UTD the ref or the linesman never seen that shocking two footed tackle by Rojo on Gana!!! Why isn't the 4th official looking at that on a monitor and informing the ref that its a straight red card!
I am all for players giving refs a hard time because some of them are useless.

...I'm glad Gueye didn't roll around faking injury, I'm also glad our players didn't rush the referee demanding a sending off. Sure, other teams do it but I prefer us not to. The tackle was deserving of a red card, the referee failed to do his job.

We need to be competitive, we need combative footballers with a strong willing mentality but we don't need gamesmanship. Look at our last title winning side, lots of lads who could look after themselves and their team mates but no cheating.

Am I the only one who saw Gana go back down after getting up and roll around for about 5 minutes?

...he protested about the tackle being two footed before going fully prostrate on the ground. It will have shaken him up but he looks like he's made of the right stuff for such a little fella.

Haha I just think he got up as a natural reaction. When he clocked that the ref had a big decision to make he hit the deck again!

Retrospective bans/cards for cheating, and red card fouls missed by the ref for me..
The elbows and headbutts that go unnoticed, therefore unpunished.. The two footed challenges... the diving etc
Perhaps even have a panel of three PL reps going through the footage during the game with punishment taking place while the game is still active.. A red card 5 minutes late is still better than none at all.

Finally I think the PL should be able to escalate a ref's yellow to a red after the game.
Make everyone better instead of making us worse.

please do not avoid the swear filter
You want your players to be good people- you really do. That isn't what wins games. That isn't how the world works unfortunately. You aren't rewarded for doing the right thing; you are rewarded for being an absolute tit. FFS look at that phony hard-man little [Poor language removed] Joey Barton.
