Are we the English Atletico?

Ok before I start I know we haven't won the league recently. It took Atletico a miracle to win, and probably won't happen again for the next decade. But are we the Premier League's Atletico Madrid? We play our guts out (or are starting to again) . We suffered for long against our rivals and are overshadowed by them ( hopefully like Atletico we'll end that losing streak in spectacular fashion like they are). We don't have as much money as other teams- but certainly aren't poor. We have a great Manager and a talented squad.

So can we pull off the Atletico? The miracle? Maybe. I hope we can soon. Martinez- read this!

Ha Ha Ha.

It's an insult when you dont really try hard.

They never learn. They have to just overpress that little too much.

Will never happen because of the difference between the English league and other leagues. In England money has pervaded too many of the top sides. You're looking at a situation now where one or two of Liverpool United or Arsenal will not make champions league football. In Germany there is Bayern and that's it. So if a team collects a few good players, a good manager, gets on some good form (basically what we did last season) they can easily get into a champions league spot. Once there they can start attracting the high quality calibre of player. As Atletico have shown the top clubs can't horde all the top players but they want champions league. After a while you can build a Dortmund or Atletico and challenge. They will still get savaged eventually by the vultures of European football but they can give it a go on continuous champions league football. The same in Italy, Juventus are dominant but a Fiorentina Roma or Udinese can make the jump and challenge if they have few seasons of champions league. Sadly we play in the so called 'best league in the word' where two of the places are taken automatically by the richest clubs on the planet and the other two are contested over by two of the largest clubs off all time and rich clubs from London. It's almost an impossible task to even break in let alone challenge for the title.

Anyone feel a Euro Super Rich breakaway league coming on in the future?
