Are we in a relegation battle right now?

Are we relegationally challenged?

  • No, too early in season, over 38 games there will be at least 3 crapper teams

What if you're certain we're in a relegation battle but not certain we're going to get relegated? I imagine that synopsis would apply more to the majority of us.

I don't think we're even in a battle per se tbh, 2 wins and a couple of draws will probably be enough this year with so many sides down there.

I'm much more concerned about the brand of football we are playing, even when we were winning I was winning I was convinced Allardyce was going in the summer & I still think thats the case

We are getting dangerously close now to being pulled into a relegation fight.

After tonight's game and Saturdays away trip to Arsenal, there is a big possibility that we could be in the bottom 6.

Currently we are struggling to score goals and have gone back to conceding too many.

The biggest concern for me however is the passion and fight or lack of it.

I don't thing this squad have the heart or bottle to get us out of a relegation fight if we do end up in one.

I'm pretty sure that's mathematically impossible as sides are playing against each other, its one of the reasons that we wont go down imo.

9 sides have to all go on a run and overtake us

I'm not confident at the moment that we will get the required points, at least in sufficient time for us to relax anyway. By heck this season is torrid.

Well we are in the battle until we get those points. There isn't a team I'd be genuinely confident we'd beat at the minute.

Every team below us would swap with us. We’re 9th and have one of the easiest run ins. Of course there’s no guarantee of the wheels coming off us completely but I feel slightly better in the position we’re in now than when we got humped 4-1 by Southampton and were in 18th looking like the worst side in the whole league.

that was a 3 points I was not expecting (and a small nod to Man City for their assistance in that).
The result certainly alleviates some of the concerns I had re a likely relegation dog-fight. Now? I think we'll be ok; we have goal threat in Walcott, some players are finding a little better form, and Coleman's return, and his contribution, should not be underestimated.
It's been a foul season, but I don't think it'll be a tragic one.
