To be honest I think a lot of the boards at the time didn't grasp how big the PL was going to be. A bit niave and complacent or incompetent depends on your point of view. Anyway EFC was left behind and we now play catch up, we have become a selling club by default. By that I mean we dont seek out and groom the talent to sell on for profit, but end up selling them because the banks demand payment or players demand(through agents) a transfer to success.

It's not just the players we lost, we lost Howard Kendall too, for me that was the greatest loss at the time, forget the later re-incarnations. I still have a dream that people would be celebrating his longevity like they do for purple nose.

Is correct mate - after Kendall left we should have gone all out and got ourselves a top manager. Colin Harvey, staunch Evertonian that he was (is), unfortunately was the wrong appointment.

Remember being battered by Real Madrid pre-season thinking - oh no!!!!!

The Park End. Not only would have correctly built stand have given us revenue, it would have allowed us to rebuild the Gwladys Street, providing more.

So rather than wasting 15 years searching hopelessly for a new ground, it wouldn't have been as big an issue as we would only have needed half a ground, or even one side. This would have also made us far more attractive to investors too.

It went downhill after Kendall left.... Liverpool purchased strong players like Barnes, Hougthon, Beardsley etc... Whilst we lost our best players... Never really replaced Lineker, even though he had his best club season at Everton.... Bad management, no decent manager after Kendal.... I remember the days of Jack Walker, and the absolute crap he bought into the club, like Vinny samways???? Damn.... The 90's were the darkest of days.... I still remember last day of the season and having to beat Wimbledon to stay up, 2-0 down at half time.... Thanks to Hans Segers for allegedly taking a bribe (lol) for us to come back to 3-2..... Will never forget big Nev against Leeds UTD, sitting at the goal posts at half time.... Dont blame him, with the rubbish he had to play with.... The club also sold him out too...
