That is your opinion and I am not arguing against that. I am more commenting on the condescending manner in which you are telling people they were 100% wrong to idolise Ferguson as a kid and say this.
People and especially kids sometimes don't follow logic, especially when emotion comes into play. I have said that I loved some of the other players, although they were few and far between. As a Kid I probably adored bang average to awful players as well, just because they played for Everton.
As I said, there is context to the Ferguson worship, he had something about him. Somebody mentioned the mystery because he didn't do public speaking at all. That is definitely part of it, for me, there was something about him away from playing football. In terms of football I remember those times when he truly turned it on, he was unplayable.
Sentimentality and emotions come into play a lot of the time when it comes to kids following football. I am sure the adults saw things different but a kid only goes by emotion.
I was chatting to my wife about this topic and how it made me sad, more so with regards to the ground being used by the women's team and everybody straight away going to PSR and how great it will be for the finances, and Richarlison potentially coming back and the default message was about finances. Where did the emotion go from football? Ferguson evoked passion for our generation, in a period of average to awful football you should easily be able to understand how the blinkers might go on for a player that does that, if football did (does) the same for you.
