Did any members on here go to the pre season tour of Antwerp in 1979?
It was a four team tournament with Royal Antwerp, Beerschott and Slavia Prague. We were eliminated straight away into the 3rd and 4th place play off. We were there from the Monday until the Thursday. Everton took loads there. We’d just signed John Bailey that week we were in Antwerp too.

Unfortunately not Bally,i was only fourteen,my mum would have had my guts for garters if I'd said I was going there!!we never did anything in those pre season tourneys,my recollections were of us always getting turned over on pens by some jarg Brazilian team!!

Yeah, I was there camping somewhere nearby. If my memory serves me right we met Brian Kidd and he got our group tickets for one of the games. Antwerp zoo was the basis of the idea later adopted by Joe Exotic! Things you do to fill in time waiting for the next game.
