Hopefully Brands has inserted a buy back or sell on clause, has the speed to get up and down the left wing that's for sure, but with digne as first choice and leighton baines for another season plus delph for cover i don't mind brands selling an asset for a profit.

He turns 22 next month, if the club don’t think he’s close to being good enough now it’s probably best we let him go.

The reason we didn't find that is because he isn't a first division player. I hope he can become one but watching him play high level players in the few games he had for the USA showed pretty clearly that he can't play at Premier League level currently. Hopefully that changes because the US could use a LB badly.

Robinson going may mean we keep Connolly as he can cover LB, RB and CM. I think if we had got Europa we might have kept Robinson as we could have given him game time there but with Baines as back up there will be limited game time for a 3rd choice LB. Delph can also play there so if your weighing up keeping one of them Connolly is the better option as he can get game elsewhere if opportunity arises.

We need to be doing more of this, actually selling our younger players who aren’t good enough. Teams like United and Liverpool have been doing it for years. Probably better for all parties, we get a little bit of cash to use elsewhere and they can go and progress their career.

I agree he's never stood out but he is versatile and sometimes players play better with better players around them. Given the cover we have at left back I can see us selling him at the right price but if we were keeping one as a squad player Connolly is the one I'd prefer. I think Robinson also picked up injuries a couple of times which may also have slightly hindered his development. I hope he has a good career but doesn't come back to haunt us.
