He’s always be strong minded: when in the England U17 setup, he expected to be playing at a higher level; at U21, it was exactly the same.

From people who know him, he is actually a nice lad in many ways, but his attitude can sour when he sets his mind on something.

Went knocking on Ancelotti’s door demanding game time, then couldn’t even get a game for Preston on loan.

I just didn't rate him and I always felt that he never had the stamina to last 90 minutes which worried me for a 21 year old.
At 21 I would get stronger towards the end of the game and that would be after 15 pints of lager and a kebab the night before.

Absolutely detached from reality this lad. Only became a regular in the team when Lampard came in and scored 1 deflected goal and thinks he’s some saviour and wanted some big farewell after refusing to train and didn’t want to travel to West Ham in a important game for us
