Anthony Gordon

It's a strange article really it seems to me that they are trying to convince themselves that they haven't bought a dud.
My take on the player and I include last season was that he had very little end product and didn't seem to have the stamina to last 90 minutes, he shone in a very poor side and the crowd took to him as he gave us some hope for the future.
Then came the summer and reports of a £60 million bid from Chelsea , it was also reported that Gordon was pushing for the move. This was the start of the disconnect between the fans and the player, no set of fans anywhere want to hear that a young up and coming player wants to jump ship at the hint of a move to another club it was all about the money.
Then this season started and he played really well for the first few weeks then the transfer window closed and he dropped of a cliff.
I have been fully behind the protests against the board but I didn't like fans stopping players cars leaving the ground but this was pure frustration after another terrible performance and had nothing to do with the ongoing protests.
When the cars were stopped Gordon was not singled out other players were stopped as well but in the case of Mina he engaged with the fans Gordon just scurried away.
Nèwcastle are really grasping at straws highlighting a single pass in his first game as sign of his quality.
Everton as a club regardless of our predicament could not afford to accept 45 million for a player that showed some promise but had not done anything to justify the price.
As for being referred to as a joke of a fan base this is coming from a fan base that resort to punching police horses when they lose a local derby .
A fan base that was ridiculed by their own chairman because they would buy any old crap from the club shop.
A fan base that has only seen there club win one trophy in over 60 years and that was by default as they were only in the competition because they came from a one horse town( no pun intended).

Not sure he pushed for a move but wouldn’t particularly blame him if he did. Our clubs a mess. We should have probably sold in the summer and reinforced then.
He did show flashes but was never consistent enough or fast enough or skilful. Stamina was terrible.
Loads of top managers and pundits were all singing his praises thoughso always thought I must be missing something.

Im a bit confused why Gordon would get out of this car?

I wouldnt get out of a motor to speak with people (strangers) like that.

Personally I want young players who do leave us to do well as that at least says we have decent young players who if we could get our house in order and keep them we'd go somewhere. Surely it's better to have a bunch of Rooneys and Stones than a bunch of Rodwells and Barkleys?

It’s a huge indictment on our academy if they suck. We absolutely must become a club that can churn out talent that can be sold and enter the first team with our current financial situation. I do think our recent culture plays a part in so many failures but the truth is we haven’t done enough to prepare players for the league. We need to become more cutthroat as a club and drop the coddling of our players. Too many of them come out rotten eggs.
