Current Affairs Another NHS downer

If the left stopped harping on about how proud we are of 'our NHS', we may finally be able to admit that it is completely unsustainable, is constantly in crisis, and has been for decades under various governments regardless of budget.

It needs to be part privatised, redesigned and made sustainable so we can stop experiencing persistent NHS woes, and that utter cretin Corbyn can get back under his rock, fantasising of a mythical land where a tax-funded but awful health service is better than a part privatised health service that actually works.

Shut up you utter Tory bellwhiff.

The NHS needs funding properly and managing properly.

I've worked in it for nearly 20 years. It's a wonderful thing.

It does far more good than bad, it's just the press like to highlight the bad. Is any organisation perfect? I appreciate the OP isn't making this argument. In that case it may not be a funding issue - it may be a condition so rare that the only surgeon willing to tackle it is based in the US.

We spend less on our healthcare system than most other developed countries and yet it's still free to use. If we spent as much on it as other nations it'd be all singing all dancing.

It needs to stop being used as a political football.

Why does she have to go to the US? Their healthcare system can't be so dysfunctional if it is the only place where she can get treatment. Instead of slagging off the US healthcare system as is the pro-NHS stance, perhaps we should look at why they can provide treatments that the NHS can't.

care brilliant end result poor down to the top man - that twice in four weeks 999 calls for high potassium in my blood so ill morphine etc - they blamed it on something else this time anything to get you out of your trolley bed, and home - not one bed in the hospital available!
Told my GP I told the top guy see you in a few weeks, because I will probably be back - blood in my sick , and poo getting worried!
Its my kidneys but they blame it on anything but!

From her youcaring page:

The UK has no one qualified to do the complex surgery that will keep me alive. I must now fundraise for my own life… and for my babies to have the mummy they so desperately need and deserve.

If we are talking about very rare conditions that require extreme levels of surgical skill to treat, the chances are that surgeons with those abilities are more likely to be found where they can get the most money for them.

Yes... and in my own experience, they are just as likely, if not more likely, to be found in Germany as they are in the US.

Can't wait.

The NHS is a wonderful organisation, but the waste and overstaffing in certain areas would not be tolerated in the private sector. This nonsense that Labour look after it and the nasty Tories try to kill it are political myths and stories. All parties want the NHS to succeed, but until we get rid of the amateur management and ex quango CEO’s it never will.......
