Death note?

I havent been watching as much anime as I was a couple years ago so I haven't seen too much new stuff. I've seen a few episodes of Death Note and it looks pretty good though.

Over in the states alot of companies are stuggling or getting out of the business altogether. Rental sites like Netflix and abusrdly high licence fees are tearing up the industry. ADV is laying off a large portion of staff. Genenon and Central Park Media closed its doors. Bandai is in the red. The only 2 companies doing well are Viz (full metal alchemist) and Funmation (Dragonball Z). So you are going to see alot less anime being produced here.

Samuari Champloo is decent though its no bebop.

Here is a website that shows fansubs of series that aren't licenced in north america yet.

www.crunchyroll.com

My top 10

1. Full Metal Alchemist
2. The 12 Kingdoms
3. FLCL
4. Cowboy Bebop
5. Blue Seed
6. .hack//Sign
7. Crest/Banner of the stars
8. Martian Successor Nadesico
9. Escaflowne tv series (avoid the Escaflowne and Nadesico movies though)
10. Excel Saga

Other good TV series/movies are:

Princess Mononoke
Robotech Macross series
Inuyasha (1st few seasons)
Outlaw Star
Boogiepop Phantom (sort of like Death Note if you like that series)

A series to look out for is NANA. Bandai just got the licence and will start putting out dvds sometime late in 08 I think.

Saint Seiya, Gundam, Dragonball, Macross, Tekkaman Blade...love all those late 80s early 90s anime.

Always had a soft spot for anime, but never really wanted to invest much time into any of big shows with 783468365 episodes like Naruto and One Piece.

Cowboy Bebop and Evangellion are absoltely quality shows. Each of them only 26 episodes, short and sweet. Serial Experiments Lain if you like a good mind feck and also, Attack on Titan is definitely worth its hype.

My inner child says DBZ.

As for films, Ghost In The Shell and Akira. Or anything by Studio Ghibli; Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Ponyo, Castle in the Sky... I saw The Wind Rises recently as well, boss film.
