Anichebe

I think right now, Anichebe is a useful squad player.

He should improve as time goes on. In the meantime, he really helps us make up the numbers which is important due to our lack of squad depth.

I agree mate, and not just right now. I put him in the Osman mould.

He took a while to hit his peak also but is a loyal warrior and someone we need to have in a battle when needed. Anichebe is that type of player.

He will keep improving and mature by the end of Yak's contract, to be the perfect replacement when Yak decides his future lies elsewhere.

He may not have the raw talent that Vaughan has, but he is solid, consistent, constantly improving, , nearly always fit and an asset to the club.

needs to realise he is an ox, not a mouse.

take a leaf out of shearers book and start throwing those elbows around. time to get tough because the dole is tougher.

I like him, i dont know why people dont like him. Yes he is lazy - but when he comes on he still terrorizes the defence, and he has got a good finish - some of his shots are great - and he isnt afraid to shoot when he has the chance. Play him a through ball to run on to and its fine. He just cant turn defenders - or bring down balls hoofed up to him.

Id love to send him on loan - namely to Preston - a favour to Irvine - but we dont have the numbers to do that...so we should keep faith in him...

...Vaughan is the more obvious youngster - better jumping, heading, pace - but no consistency or composure.

He's just not going to cut the mustard is he?

Hope Im wrong like, I usually am.

Anyway, GET JUKIEWICZ ON.

He's hardly played this season, i'd prefer to at least give him a few games, especially when he's the only fit striker with 1st team experience we have on our books

I have to agree with that post fully, if the lad put himself about and used his natural strength, at the least he'd be as good as Heskey, at best Shearer(y)

was really impressed with him when Moyes played him out wide.

He has pace that he doesn't always show when he's upfront, used his strength well and looked far from lazy on the right wing. Only problem there is he looks shot to pieces after about 10 minutes.

.

We've had this discussion several times. Answer is no he isn't, at least not as a premier league striker.
I'd say he's got two career options - either drop down a league and be satisfied with making a bigger splash in the Championship or drop back into midfield and make better use of his physical presence while working on his game reading, interception and distribution.
As I've suggested before he could make far more impression as a defensive midfielder, than he does in front of goal.

In Big Vic's defence....name another 18-19 year old striker in the premiership who plays week in week out to be labelled a quality premierleague striker?

Answer? None. In fact there's hardly any in the world.

I think people are asking alot maybe too much from him at his age. He's leading the line, or given the chance to lead the line, and he's the only fit stirker. He's only played 1 full game after our injury crisis before being injured himself to really grab the bull by the horns. He looked clearly unfit against Macclesfield.

Have faith I say. Encourage the lad because they're just might be a game where everything falls into place and he sets the world on fire and starts from there.

If not, get rid on loan or sell him like I think we should do with James "Call me Pringles" Vaughan.
