Anichebe Out - Crouch In?

Crouch scores a lot of goals, as a forward that's what you want so yeah, I'd take him. It would be so easy to revert to long balls with him on the pitch though & we're at our best when the likes of Arteta, Pienaar, Osman, Fellani, Cahill & Yakubu are knocking it around the floor so if it took away that strength then he's not worth signing, if we could avoid that temptation Crouch knows where the net is & his goals could be very useful.

Tevez is a fantastic player, I'd take him in the blink of an eye but I'm realistic enough to know he's not a likely signing at this point, he'll sign for 1 of the best teams in Europe & despite the huge steps we've made, we don't fall into that category yet.

Next season is going to be huge for Anichebe if he stays. When he's up for it he can be brilliant, he's natually very strong, he can charge through using that strength & the goal against Nuremberg showed he can be really calm in front of goal & produce good finishes. However, how many times have we seen that compared to the times we've seen him look disinterested, complain when a ball is played 2 feet past him & generally had a poor game? He seems to have a lot more bad games than good, which isn't too bad at a young age providing you show enough of your ability to be worth it but I'm not sure if Anichebe has.

I think the arguement with could turn into a good thing, he knows the pressure is on & he has to either produce the goods or he's gone. I'm not sure how Moyes views him or how other clubs do but I think if there's no decent offer for him he'll keep him around the 1st team for a year, tell him to produce the goods when he gets his chance & if he doesn't, bin him for whatever we can get. He might loan him out & tell him to proove himself elsewhere or he might sell him if someone offers what Moyes considers a fair fee, but either way, it's sink or swim time for him & I feel that by this time next season we'll know for certain whether he'll ever be good enough or not.

I don't mind Crouch. I don't think he's what we're looking for though. We have Fellaini to hold the ball up and act as a target for long balls/flick-ons and to bounce off around the box (i mean give and go, not fouling people!), as has been mentioned Crouch would tempt long balls possibly preventing us knocking it around midfield, maybe he is too similar to Fellaini.

However the main reason i don't think we will sign him is his age and fee. Will we pay around £10m for a 28 year old that doesn't really fit in? or would the money be better spent on a younger striker or the pacy winger we all crave.

I'm sure we could get Eliseu from Malaga for 7 or 8 million. The advantage is he's a right winger so we wouldn't have to split up the Baines/Piennar partnership

Anichebe out for crouch? Dont see the improvement tbh, we need a right winger and victor showed he can do a job outwide instead of plyaing as a striker, and if theres any forward we should be going for it should be Jo imo.

I don't think we need Crouch to be honest. But I rate the beanpole quite highly, and you have to respect him for sticking two fingers up at Benitez.

Crouch can score no doubt about that but I think we would end up with hoofball football again and any way we alreadt have one beanpole who is giving us enough grief already.

Tevez would be a phenomonal signing if we could afford him, the mind just boggles if he was in our team. IMO just the kind of player we need.

Anichebe TBH I can see him leaving, did we not nearly lend him to Hull? I do not think Moyes is that arsed now about keeping him.

Hope Anichebe leaves. I don't like him at all. He is also, absolutely useless.

Not a Crouch fan but in fairness he could be very effective on this squad. We don't really have a pure striker who is a target man (Yak is big but his headers are useless) and Crouch has finally learned to flick-on and get some power on his headers. On free kicks it doesn't affect us becasue Fellani, Cahill and Lescott move up but during open play too many of Arteta sweet kicks in the box are wasted.

Our squad would improve with Crouch but we'd be hoofing it more and would become more Bolton like so not sure what's better.

Id love Tevez but sadly I think his wages would put pay to anything happening . As for crouch .................fcuk that

I agree. Best 2 posts so far.
