Angus Kinnear

I wasn't making the argument that they are bigger, I dont think they are, just that it's a poor reflection on evertons social media reach.

But Everton’s social media reach far exceeds that of Leeds United, as has been shown. Bluesky is a tiny irrelevance compared to the big platforms that give the true picture.
3 million X followers is more than Newcastle or Villa.

No one in their right mind believes Leeds are anywhere near as important or bigger club as Everton.

They had the first half of the 1960s and early 1970s and 1992 where they were better than tripe.

Another of the clubs like Newcastle, Spurs and Villa who laughably believe they're anywhere the same status as Everton.
Totally agree about Newcastle and Spurs, nothing sides for the majority of time but I think Villa deserve a bit more respect, always thought they were pretty similar to us really.

ITs the era we play in mate.

And in this era, Man City are considered 1 of the very best.

We all know how and why, but its on Everton to try and reach for those stars.

Yes I'm not disagreeing with you from that point of view but I'm suggesting the alternative point of view as seeing Man City more as a sport washing exercise rather than Man City organically growing to be one of the biggest teams in the world. You could argue Man City no longer exist as they are being used for political reasons for a nation state. Both arguments have merit

I think we as a fan base are so used to any board appointment - Elstone and miss headlock 2022 as being awful!

So any appointment is met with skepticism…hell people are still 50/50 on TFG. I get why…

However it might just be we have owners who are clearly excellent at business with an annual revenue of around 10 billion a year.

Have likely learnt from their early miss steps at Roma and might be putting the right people in the right positions. Rather than Sharpie because well he scored that goal

Kinner like the TFG need to be judged on actions but so far it seems the adults are back in the room.

Been a very long time since that statement sounds at least partially true

I'm guessing you have forgotten their 8 fa cup trophies, in the days when the cup was a big deal and their 3 European trophies.
Sadly like us football and how big you are is judged on the here and now…Leeds like us are seen as also rans and constant relegation fodder sadly true.

Things can change though

Kinnear does look like a conservative appointment, I have to say.

A CEO noted for keeping costs down at Leeds and fronting up strange decisions by owners.

I'm not sure he hasn't been chosen for his pliability.

Take a look at their history as a top flight club. There's no consistency. A yo-yo club that has nowhere near Everton's top flight pedigree.

"You could argue Man City no longer exist"

That's completely true. You see the like of Shaun Goater wheeled out to talk about Aguero as though it's the same club he played for. It ain't. Their entire identity now is Abu Dhabi. Simon Jordan (who does speak sense from time to time) called them manufactured which absolutely nails it. And because they are a manufactured entity they don't garner anywhere near the praise a team who authentically win things would get. Their "winning" is largely glossed over.

You think their fans care?

I mean some will, through clenched teeth they celebrate the trophies, im not naive to think we wouldnt do the same.

But you are right, this is certainly a new "Project City".

Take United, growing up they were seen as this monster of a club, younger me never understood it, they won nothing, they finished mid-table, but the media loved them, then SAF came in and they blew up at the exact time football blew up. Did United do it organically?

Anyway, im just rambling.

I can't speak for other fans as it depends on how you personally view it. If Everton went down that road I'd not feel a part of it and I'd knock it on the head for a non league side or something.
