Absolutely no to a new contract. He could barely run before his injury, God only knows how he'll be once he's back. Great professional and obviously a good role model to have around the club, but thank you and goodbye end of season.

The only player I’d consider keeping around purely due to them being a good professional is Coleman (and he can still do a job at right back).

Townsend was doing alright in a poor side before his injury. Let's see how he does in a better side first.

I think like Coleman he is a good personality to have around, he attended games even when not fit, he doesn't mind getting up and down to do the defensive work and with 5 subs that can't be sniffed at.

“The original plan was after the World Cup break to try and join back in training. I would like to think I am on schedule for that, but there are so many bumps in the road to come. Hopefully I don’t have any more setbacks and I can re-join after the World Cup break.”
