….it is all about being effective and Townsend is uncomplicated and effective.

Long season to go but he’s been a terrific signing so far.

We have missed the professionalism of a player like Townsend since we started spaffing money.

Unlike Walcott, he makes the midfield more solid whilst still popping up in the right areas.

The fans can see he's an enthusiast determined to do well for the club. At this point, he probably wasn't expecting such a big move so he's making the most of it.

Indeed, pity about the other cruds Benitez signed.

Doubt he was expecting both strikers to get injured so Rondon had to be thrown straight in. Similarly with Pickford getting injured.
I wasn't overly keen on Benitez being our manager but we can hardly blame him for having almost no money due to the poor recruitment that has gone on before.
And now he is our manager I want him to win every game. He has managed to find two players that improve our starting 11 for £1.7m which is not a bad start.

Proper team player with good technique allied to a great work ethic, wish we'd got him two/three years ago but hopefully we can still get at least a couple of excellent seasons out of him.
