Supposedly he left Zenit as well to go back to Portugal stating family reasons.

He left Zenit to to Portugal and ended up in China??????

You do know the senior players who questioned his tactics where Lampard and Terry - both of whom he had dropped during that season, wasn't the first and won't be the last chelsea manager to be stabbed in the back by his players, throw in the fact he was 34 at the time and there you have a good explanation of why it went pear shaped, a poor season by chelseas standards, but he doesn't get sacked if he doesn't drop those couple of players - simple as

The similarities between his time with spurs and koemans with us - effectively stop at losing there best players and buying in a lot of terrible ones mate, Koeman was basically out at the group stage of the EL embarrassingly, AVB had won all 6 games, Koeman had us sitting in 17th, AVB had Spurs in 7th and just 5 off the eventual league winners.

At SPurs btw, it wasn't him in charge of the post Bale sale recruitment, even though subsequently the club tried to spin all but the one or two who mworked out onto him

By Chelsea's standards at that time he failed and rather badly, he left leaving them unusually not contending for the league but adrift from fourth place Arsenal, they had lost badly at Napoli and their champions league journey seemed over.

It was seen by most as the right decision to lose him and the players did recover the situation at least in the champions league, a lost cause was won after he left.

He did well in his first season at Spurs, it was his second that went so badly wrong following big incomings (and outgoings) in the summer transfer window, I said there were similarities in this with Koeman not that it was like with like, and not everything was therefore identical.

Just going by this:

"On 10 September 2015, Villas-Boas announced he would return to Portugal because of his family and therefore be leaving Zenit at the end of the 2015-16 season after turning down a contract extension"

Also, he was out of footy for 6 months before going to China.

Well if he does come to us , at least Goodison is only 2 hours by plane to Portugal, he could ask Koeman about flight times, seeing's he was out there loads playing soddin golf.

At Chelsea he had reached the QF with them already - and the replacement went on with the same team to win it that season

They didn't reach the quarter finals and had just lost in the first leg of the round of 16 away at Napoli 3-1, although it looked as if they were headed out, under new temporary manager Matteo they did manage to remarkably turn it all around with a 4-1 home success including late goals when all seemed lost.

The team did then go from strength to strength in the champions league and after seeing off Benfica in the quarters, beat Barca in the semis and Bayern on their own ground in the final (penalty shoot out)

a 3-1 away loss in a knock-out round in the CL isn't a lost cause mate, it's actually not that bad a disastrous result in context, bringing a team back to Stamford bridge with you having an away goal for Chelsea is far far from insurmountable

so badly wrong - they where through the group stage with 6 wins on the bounce in the El and where 7th - 4 points behind that seasons league winners in City. Hardly a disastrous position was it?

Could it get duller than Thursday night? My son and I only go occasionally (3rd time this season on Thursday) and it's getting worse. I really didn't think were relegation fodder untill Thursday. Worried now though. Crowd getting angrier every game too. Saw some really angry and frustrated fans on Thursday.
