I wouldn't start him again this year. His technical ability is irrelevant while he doesn't fancy the physical side of the game.

You cant have midfielders in this league who can't win tackles or track runners. Players just run past him with or without the ball.

I think in this system if Delph wasn't made of straw he would be a better option. He is an awful man but if you are assessing on suitability he edge's it. I would however jettison Delph rather than Gomes if we managed to get someone in.

We should be looking to jettison both as a matter of priority.

You are right but only so many you can move out at a time. If I had my way I would move Delph, Gomes and Sigurdsson out but we would need 3 new midfielders if Gbamin not back 4. So it still needs to maybe take until next summer when Delph and Sigurdsson contracts run out. RB a AM who can score 10 and a RF are priority this summer. Also a decent back up striker. 2 more midfielder is probably asking too much.

We’ve had 3 windows under Ancelotti now, there’s been plenty of time to get rid of the deadwood. Time to stop messing about now, Gomes would still maybe fetch us £8-10m from some middling Portuguese or Spanish club so we need to recoup that while we can.

I would bite their hand off. £10 million is only a book price loss of £3 million.

After his loan I was very much on board with the signing I thought given the chance he would push us forward, Has all the ability in the world but he's not up to it.

January windows tend be crap regardless, not just for us but every team. There aren't many good quality January transfers.

Won't be going anywhere as no one would offer an amount to make it worthwhile.

The only hope would have been getting into Europe where he'd be fine against the lower European sides in the group stages.

Yep, he does that a lot.
When he’s good, he’s reasonably ok, when he’s bad, absolutely stinks the gaff out.
Contributes nothing much in general really though, no wonder we struggle to win games on the front foot with him playing regularly.

Great run by Digne, little cheeky back heel to put him through......nah, I'll just pea roll a 5 yard pass 2 yards to the Burnley player.

Saturday was one of his better performances compared to the previous 2 as well yet it still included absolute brain fart moments like that.
