2020/21 Andre Gomes

He looked like a lumbering oaf following their players around and making pointless fouls -- without the ball.

With the ball he seemed very conservative.

He really has to be moved on this summer.

He's shocking - gets away with murder as he's got a sexy foreign name and gives out hugs in his leather jacket.

Has to be peddled for me.

We need a squad.

We have Gomes, Iceland, Davies, Gmblammo, who, for whatever reasons, are possibly not really at the right level we need on a consistent basis.

Then we have Allan and Doucs.

So for me we certainly need another body and in order to do that, at least 2 of them have got to go.

I would say :

Allan, Doucs, newbie as first choice
Gomes, Davies, Gmblammo as back up

Punt Iceland and Delph.

Yeah, I know, you and Zat would sell them all and buy 2 new players, but I doubt that happens.

Siggurdsson gets a lot of grief but for me he's twice the player Gomes is and I imagine Carlo would punt Gomes first (neither are good enough to push us on imo).

Wouldnt be shocked if Siggurdsson signed a 12 month extension with as you say 2 out - for me Delph + Gomes moved on with Gbamin given a season to see if he has anything left in the tank after those injuries.

Both players get a lot of stick, but both can and have played well at times, sadly for us we need better than at times.

I just think if we need to add, which I think we can agree we do, moving on the older Iceland would be more prudent, but I suppose it depends on who and how we can sell.

Moving on Gomes could generate more income than Sig cos of the same reason - age. Considering he doesn’t contribute half of what Siggy does seems like a no brainer.
We have plenty that can replace Gomes in the starting line up.. Sig is one of the few that can actually create in midfield after James.
has far more value to the squad.

I know a few of his stats will be skewed by pens/set pieces but when you add up the goals and assists both contribute there is only one winner and its the Ice man.

Probably one of our most heavily criticised players this season (rightly so), so I’m not sure this is accurate.

Some fans want to see a return to when he looked a genuinely quality (albeit limited) player pre-injury. I haven’t seen much evidence that’s possible, which is a shame - he’s probably falling beneath Davies in the pecking order at this stage.

I don't mind if he stays because he can do well, especially if he's in there with Doucouré and Allan. But if we're down to the bare bones and it's, say, him and at least one of Sig and Delph together, then he looks out of his depth. He needs quality around him to show his own quality.

I'd prefer we punt Gbamin and Delph first, and bring in a young tenacious midfielder from the Championship.

We'd then have Davies, Gomes, Allan, Doucouré, Sigurdsson and a new player as our options and that's good enough. Hopefully in the near future we'll get some more letters players come through from the academy too because atm we only have Davies who plays.

Simply not good enough . Done ok offensively in patches without being great but his real problem is defensively, the game simply passes him by and its like defending with 9 out field players. V fortune to not receive a red yesterday

Doesn't score, rarely directly assists, can't shoot or head. Can't tackle, too slow and I've noticed he often runs to close down a player he shouldn't, leaving him horribly out of position. A liability when defending games out and a walking yellow card.

I just don't see him as anything more than an ineffective body on the pitch unfortunately. I go into games expecting absolutely nothing from him.

They are different type of players mate.

Gomes has been poor at times, but I think his laid back style winds people up.

Hes never going to be Allan, but he has a different skill set.

People expecting some players to be things they aint.
Different yes, but to what end.
If he's part of a three man cm he's got no way near the work rate and effectiveness of Davies Doucs Allan or Coleman.
And if he's playing the 10 or freer role leaving the other two to do more of the graft is he any better than these four (leaving aside James and Sig) I can't remember him ever making a run and getting a header off.
