Our whole midfield was pretty poor first half, but subbing at half time bad?? Nah

Home was the weakest link imo......caught with the ball wanting far too much time .....subbed anyway...,.. booked, a nightmare of a game - he will get better .....

It is fair to say that we (I) would have crucified Davies had he played as bad as Gomez. That is just the way of things. Gomez is supposed to be and surely was at one time a very good player. Remember who we signed him from? Carlo needs to see what can be done with Gomez to bring back his undoubted talent. It is worrying really.

I thought Joe Gomez was pretty bad yesterday also.

Even if he was fit it was a tall order they used that flank spot even when our debutante came on and he had a very good game ........
Gomes was far too slow for me and that bad injury has affected his speed.,.....

I'm not sure he had much speed to lose, as it turns out, it wasn't the type of game for him, but he's an important player for us. He'll boss some teams/games around.

Prior to yesterday's performance Gomes has been playing really well and looks like Gomes of old, I think yesterday was down to him not training much since latest injury and being off the pace.

I like Gomes but not sure whether our midfield will score enough goals with him as the 3rd midfielder. We have been ok so far because the front 3 and CBs have been scoring but he really needs to be chipping in with 5-10 goals this season and I just can't see it. Will be even more important in next 3 games as we will lose Richarlison who is one of our big goal threats.

Tom Davies wouldn't have even had the opportunity to lose the ball. He would have been chasing shadows.

Gomes had a stinker but he was playing against one of the best teams in the world.

Aston Villa put 7 past them.....they stopped their full backs....

When playing as a front 3 it's not as necessary for the midfielders to score as many as opposed to 442 , still you'd hope they chip in a few, most top sides have midfielders who score goals.
