Class players always seem to have that little bit more time. Andre has that. Makes everything look simple. Silky skills, always easy on the eye.
Like many have said already, it looks like he has the right players around him now, so we should see him excel.

Was surprised to see him so involved in attack because he really hadn’t been. But with Allan and Doucore doing so much defensively he had license to get forward. That’s great because he’s not a DM. That he had to play as one last season was due to lack of any other options. Now he can do what he does best.

exactly this. He was getting to the byline, he had a couple of shots and he seemed more himself. He will thrive.

He’s been rated by Carlo from the moment he arrived. He’s not going anywhere and it was no surprise to see him in the team yesterday. Carlo has always loved a balanced midfield with class in it and Gomes at his best is an undoubted baller. Not surprised at all that Carlo is trying to get the best out of him.

Andre needs to work day and night on the final 3rd of the pitch. He has a license to go forward now and we already know he has superb balance on the ball and a great passing range.

I’ve always thought of him as more of a ball retainer than an offensive weapon but he has the potential to be so much more now. Get some shots off lad and dance round them fools. I know you are capable of it.

Popping my head in briefly to say, just because his flaws weren't so blindingly obvious due to having two energetic midfielders next to him to cover, doesn't mean he actually did anything particularly good.

What a ridiculous thing to say. At the very worst he’s our third best central midfielder. At worst. With decent players around him and an actual partnership in midfield he’ll thrive, also means it’s not all upto him to do everything anymore. There’s literally 3 or 4 other CMs at the club who are significantly worse than him.

Hopeful that once Gbamin is back he and Gomes can both fight Allan and Doucoure for places in the team. Competition for places in the squad is always great and it’ll keep us far away from a midfield partnership of the quality of Davies and Sigurdsson for a long time to come.

I didn't think he was as impressive as some people here are suggesting. Improved player sure but hoping to see more.

I think if James is doing most of the forward passing, Doucoure most of the harassing and carrying and Allan most of the breaking up you have to ask what exactly Gomes is bringing. I think he was an option and supported them well, but it might be possible to drop him and bring in another forward with James becoming a the third center mid. If James stays on the right we are going to need him nearer the box more often so someone has to pick up the forward passing he did when dropping deeper.
