From where they are now to catch the top 6 would take literally about a billion pounds. I doubt anyone is spending that kind of money.

It will be interesting if the deal goes through to see what they do. As with FFP they can only improve the wage bill by 7mil a season. So it’s not if they can but 5 players and put them on 200k a week. Unless the new owners do some dodgy sponsorship deal.

What Chelsea & city did 10/15 years ago is not as easy to do now. Also though Rafael is a good manager, he’s very defensive and Mourinho showed that even having the 2nd most expensive squad in the league, being negative doesn’t really get you anywhere in the modern game.

I'd prefer the lot of them to just bugger off to be honest. Maybe that way the rest of us can get fair coverage and not have to see the same old bias pundits week in week out.

Re Gomes: what is he actually like as a midfielder? Stats don't look that impressive, but obviously don't tell the whole story.

Only time I watched him was against us and he looked solid, but then again, a lot of players do.

Do West Ham fans actually think they stand a chance at signing Gomes?

I’m a bit out of the loop on this one, would love to know the thought process

He's not a stat boy that's a given, @CRIMHEAD really doesn't rate him on this but he's a player who keeps the ball in tight spaces, transitions quickly through the lines and can pick a pass, on his day he's a really really good player, hopefully he can regain his pre Barca form, now thats a player.
