Hopefully he will be so relieved to be out of the situation that it will give him an instant boost but this is defo a risky signing and people getting excited about this are jumping the gun.

There was more reason to believe Klassen Keane and Sandro would be a success and would improve us when signed than there currently is to to believe in this one.

However I can only imagine Silva believes he can help him and get the best out of him again. Fingers crossed.

Yeah I remember that time well. Really unfair to the player and was happy he made it public before that applause that Sid wrote about - I had hoped he'd get that reaction and fans responded really well. Of course, Barcelona fans are demanding and perhaps are frustrated at how much weaker the midfield has looked in recent years compared to what they are accustomed to. I would agree it looked to be absolutely mental and it's also true that some players never quite recover - Bojan Krkic & Kiko Femenia at Barcelona both went through a version of that but they turned a corner despite at smaller clubs

I would suspect a fellow countryman in Silva will transmit the confidence & support needed to help Gomes thrive

My worry is; are we setting ourselves up for a lack of pace in the middle of the pitch. Surely we won’t play Schneiderlin, Sigurdsson, and Gomes right?

That isn't a concern mate.

The idea will be to move the ball forwards and have passing ability. The pace will come from the attacking 3 and tosun playing a centre forward role.

So hyperthetically the midfield will be the ones covering and getting the ball moving forward and the Walcott Bernard lookman richaldson will the ones with the pace

Just hope Dign and Mina do the business. It looks like Bernard is a no show for a few months to me, and Gomes is a bit poor. Zouma is Koeman-esque signing, apart from the fact we haven't thrown £25M at it...yet.
