An Evertonian perspective

There were signs last season of a better side than previous seasons with regards more entertaining football and I hope that RM continues that ethos, and continues to build a team that know how to pass a ball and break down the opposition,Moyes did well for Everton, but i'm hoping Martinez can provide that little bit of panache now.His enthusiasm is infectious and I hope the players feel that.
I want Everton to be looking to go 2 goals up instead of trying to hold onto a lead with 20 minutes to go,a team that goes up against the so called big clubs and really take them on,no more plucky Everton and patronising "haven't they done well with no money" crap from the pundits.Top 6 finish would be nice for a first season, and doing it in style would be better.Early ,early days but i've got a feeling this could well be a huge period in our history, love the fact RM see's the youth set up as crucial to our future ,and if we can produce from that area of the club then who needs the money !.COYB'S

The last twenty minutes sometimes would be heart breaking, the defence hoofing it back, the team would attack, we would hoof it back. Martinez is teaching our players to pass it around which will be useful in the last twenty minutes, sometimes tho a player will do the wrong pass and it a goal.

Don't think we can judge Martinez from his wigan games, he not a manager who only got way of playing or one formation. He said that it about what best for the players so he will based his formation on the players he got, so he might have different ideas on corners for us as he did with wigan.

I feel so much better about cup competitions now, I have to say. I think we'll be top 6 again, but it is nice that although things could, to an extent, go belly up, that they could also go mental and see us finish higher than last year as we don't know what to expect after the first change in 11 years. The change is refreshing in that respect. You knew with Moyes that we were finishing in the top 7 no matter what kind of appalling start we'd have and that top 4 would probably just about be a bridge too far. Now we have little idea although the net spend we're enjoying suggests there's more chance of some boss scenes at Goodison than grim ones.

I'm withholding expectations for this season. Even in the worst case scenario where things go absolutely pear-shaped I am willing to see this season as transitional.
However, my ambition is to have EFC playing Europe next season, ideally ideally ideally through a cup victory, otherwise through league position. And I'd like this to be done playing exciting attacking football. Easy as.

Place seems fresh and invigorated, after the staleness of the last few years. Not been looking forward to a season for years, but genuinely excited about this one.

If it's not broken - don't fix it.

We played some great football last season & we were extremely tough to beat. I hope Martinez doesn't throw the baby out with the bathwater by looking to dramatically alter our 'style'. We need evolution not revolution imo. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see us throttle the life out of sides when we're ahead, rather than settling for a lead & being overly cautious at times, but there's a balance to be had & I don't want to see us start shipping goals like Martinez previous side. Overall I'm cautiously optimistic, I think the lad from Barca could prove to be a real coup & I hope he can add another 1 or 2 before the window shuts.

just what i was think pal, excited to watch us this season.

We could do anything. The only thing that would surprise me would be if we struggled at the bottom.

I'm feeling optimistic, really, and I'm usually the nervous type when it comes to Everton.
