Just so people are aware, I'm referring specifically to:
Liabilities - 1999: assets of £20m; 2013: liabilities of £44m
Poor commercial performance: a kit deal that pays us less a season than WBA & Swansea.
Lack of transparency: 3 different conflicting reasons given by club officials for the Park End development not going ahead.
Lack of medium & long term plans: there simply isn't any.
Mentality of those who run the club: 'top 6 is a magnificent achievement for Everton etc'.
Again I challenge anybody to defend the club on any of those points.
I've supported Everton FC for over 33 yrs, I've seen the good times and the bad times and some of us may argue that if Heysel hadn't happened we would have progressed as a club enjoying regular European Football, but we didn't and that was our chance to establish ourselves with the élite and created solid foundations too allow us to be more successful for many yrs.
We have to face facts the only problem we have is the stadium, top 5 clubs are earning 4 times as much and that's what is hurting us, we simply haven't got the capacity too generated loads of money, in the last 7 yrs we have overachiever.
Also you have to take into account the Plastic clubs...Man City & Chelsea we simply can't complete with these clubs with the amount of money they have and the brand name clubs like Man Utd, Arsenal & Liverpool have been allowed to rack huge amounts of debt by the banks because they are global names, obviously Arsenal are in a better place now, with their new stadium and not spending too much on players etc.
So with that in mind and the fact we've been a recession for the last 5 yrs, nobody is buying football clubs at the moment, apart from the middle east, stadiums are the key, and that's the reason Man City were taken over and you can bet once West Ham move they will also have new owners.
I like Bill it's not his fault he ain't got the money needed to take us forward and in some ways when you look at some of the clubs that have taken over...West Ham, QPR, Wolves, Liverpool & Portsmouth then it's not always a good thing.
I've no time for the Blue Union...they come out in public when it suits them, I particularly noticed it goes quiet when things are going well, such as reaching the FA Cup final - Semi Final & 7th place - 2011-2012 season after Christmas and more recently finishing 6th, if you are fighting for a cause then regardless how well the team is performing, the cause should always be fought, but they know they haven't got the full support of all the Evertonions. Also I'm let to hear a plan B for the Blue Union - how do we get a new stadium especially with current financial climate? Who do they want Bill to sell the club too?
These are my own views and I've no problem with people disagreeing, football is about opinions and we are all entitled to them but we have to be realistic, currently there is 3 leagues within the Premier League and we are currently in the 2nd League and until we move to a bigger stadium then that will continue to be the case. I've know doubt we can push on under Martinez and challenge for 5th/4th place and some silverware in the future, but unless someone is willing too spend a couple of hundred million on a new stadium then the people that are moaning now about the Club will continue to do so.
Peace
