American Toffees in Liverpool

I'm going to see the Mighty Blues play Chelsea on the 30th. I'm staying with friends, though, so I couldn't help you with hotels and such. Wish you the best of luck though!

I went over for my first match in September. I live in Virginia. Bought tickets through the official site. No problems at all. Bought my ticket on the first day they were available. Sat in the first row of the Lower Gwladys. Goodison supper bar directly across from St. Luke's for chips and curry. Winslow for a pint. Highly recommend the Merseyside Maritime Museum at Albert dock if you have free time and are interested in history. Train to London for a day could be a good idea, 12 quid each way. That advice is based on my experience. Hope some of it helps!

Weird question: I bought a couple tickets for the game in DC last summer off craigslist from a guy named Scott who lived in PA. Was that you by any chance?

Only if you book early!

Defo wouldnt stay by the airport there are plenty of cheap hotels in the city center the formulae 1 is cheap and not so cheerful, you could fly to Dublin for Paddys day but accomodation is more expensive and harder to come by and the drink is far more expensive. Liverpool is great on St.Patricks day plenty going on i'd stay there

This.

I have no doubt Dublin would be ace on St Patrick's Day but Liverpool knows how to celebrate it very well so I don't see why you would want to spend time and extra money dicking about with extra travel to escape it.

So it was you! Thanks again for that. Truly one of the most memorable days of my life. Have a great time in Liverpool. Guarantee you'll love it.

Glad we could help out, we had a hell of a good time.

And I'm going to try and see my first game in April. Take my money!!!!!!!!!!

Would be happy to, let me know how I can help.

Kind of like being in NYC for New Years Eve and not going to Times Square. Sure it's annoying as [Poor language removed] but it's St. Patrick's Day and I don't think the opportunity will repeat itself.

Maybe your perspective is different as an American but I don't get the analogy. Times Square being in the same city as opposed to a different country. Sure, if you want to fit in as much in a short stay as possible then fair play.

Hotel Ibis is pretty good value if you want something a little nicer, and right next door to the one linked. I've been in it and it was absolutely fine.

Thanks for the heads up, two of us are Priority Members and have enough points for a few free nights at Holiday Inn City Centre. (y)

Golf course recommendations for an 18 handicap on a budget?

I should have said New Jersey, it's treated like a different country. I guess I'm saying if we have the chance to spend SPD in Ireland, I'm going to look at my options. Did I mention we are traveling with a ginger?

Not that this is settled, where do we go for St. Patrick's Day?
New York City is your best bet.

Did I mention we are traveling with a ginger?
This is not going to help you plan your trip but did many people in the US use the phrase "ginger" before that South Park episode? I moved from the UK to the US in my teens and I can't be sure but I feel like "ginger" was one of the things nobody really understood or used back then. Hear people using it all the time now. Massively irrelevant though ... enjoy your trip!

No they didn't, hahahaha. Shows like that and rap music controls our slang nowadays.
