Came across an old video on You tube of the 1960 FA Cup 4rh round tie between Sheffield Wednesday and Peterborough. (Peterborough were a non-league team then, playing in the Midland League) It caught my attention because I was a spectator at that game at Hillsborough. The team I played for in the Yorkshire League were playing Sheffield Wednesday 'A' that day at the pitch at their training ground. When we got there we found that the game was off. The pitch was in poor condition and it had snowed. We were invited by Wednesday to go to Hillsborough to watch the game. When we got there, we were ushered into a special section next to the players tunnel and right on the half-way line. (In the video it is to the left of the players tunnel) The quality of the video doesn't allow me to recognise faces but I am in there somewhere! Wednesday won 2 - 0 but the thing I remember most about the game was the Peterborough centre-forward hassling Ron Springett the Wednesday goalie who was trying to kick from hand. After a couple of blocks, Springett tucked the ball under his left arm and floored the centre-forward with a right arm smash. This was in the penalty area but the ref ignored it and let play go on.
