Always be remembered for 'that' own goal against the RS - was a good servant for the club and played most of the title-winning 69/70 games

RIP
Forget that own goal - he was a great all round player scored against the reds also no one mentions that - He played every position even in goal for the blues a hard player who was afraid of no one hated Leeds in that famous home game where he got sent off with studs marks down his chest after thumping a player and the teams led off to cool down - He had a thunderous shot with either foot - RIP Mr Sandy Brown an Iconic player for the blues Mr Versatile and Hard with it! He died young really at 71 -RIP

Before my time but heard many great things about him.

Seem to remember in "The Golden Vision" were Ken Jones and Bill Deans characters were arguing about playing him in the side instead of Ray Wilson, great stuff.
Think Sandy came out at half time onto the pitch last year or the year before in a wheelchair and got a great reception, the older fellas around me all had tears in there eyes, a lot of great memories about him no doubt.

Rest In Peace Sandy

He was watching a game in the front row of the wheelchair section at front right of the st end a couple of years ago. Looked pretty old and not too well but had glint in those bright blue eyes. As others have said, unsung hero in brilliant team. He got last laugh for the OG when we won league that season! Hard as nails.

As tough as teak and as versatile as an egg was Sandy. He was a very good full back, but, his versatility meant that 'the cat' played him in many positions. One thing you could say about Sandy was that he always gave 100%. R.I.P. Sandy

I too witnessed that goal on a grim day for us blues. I was standing in the Goodison Road Paddock and had a great view of it. He looked utterly bereft as he got up from the turf.

But he forgot all about it when we were champions, I'm sure.

Lots of people here have spoken of his toughness and his versatility. Both true. But nobody so far has spoken of his shot which was very strong. We had two dead ball specialists in that side, John Hurst was often passed the ball from a freekick around the opposition box. But Sandy also had a kick like a mule.

Sad day but many happy memories. Thank you, Sandy for your part in that year of legends, I've never forgotten what it felt like to be a blue back then....and feared by all our opponents. True blue.

I was talking to my Dad about him last night and said that he played in four games of the 1966 FA Cup campaign and as he didn't play in the final (also wasn't sub as they didn't have them) he never received a medal. Now when you see the winners these days every member of the squad, the bus driver to the tea lady get a medal. So this afternoon I have composed an email to Robert Elstone and the Honourable Secretary of the Everton Shareholder's Association requesting the Club present his family with a replica FA Cup winners medal as he deserves one. 250 plus games a true legend from a great era of our Club.
