The level I'm holding them to is would they get regular games for most of the teams we want to compete with. The answer is a major no on Holgate and probably no on Godfrey because he has no ball playing skill.

Basically Richarlison's difference is the ball went in a bit more with us. If you want to call that major development go ahead, I see the exact same player. His flaws are still the same, his strengths are still the same and his effectiveness is entirely down to how his finishing goes as we saw in the first half of this season. That was him at Watford too.
If the players we had could feature regularly for the teams above us then those teams would buy them from us or buy them before we could. We cannot compete for those signings. We do not have the pulling power.

We have to sign players the top teams aren't interested in but who we can potentially improve through development to get to that level. Thats what Godfrey and Holgate are and while they're developing you can't judge them for not being the top quality player they could become already. If they were at that level already they wouldn't be here.

I know that but we've signed very few players with a view to developing them and had even fewer actually develop which is exactly what I'm on about. Holgate has been here 5 years.

Thing is...he whined about the same thing at Arsenal. Wenger played him outwide/attacking 3 and ousted Walcott from the squad.

Played a handful of games as a 10 for Arsenal but was never gonna play there over Ramsey, Ozil, Carzola etc so was never going to play there.

In fact his best season for Arsenal was out wide!

We have 6 young players.

3 of them, DCL, Holgate and Rico all fought for a place, improved and now they are getting games weekly.
3 of them cried like little bishes, 1 of them is about to get relegated, with his 4th club in 2 years, 1 of them is playing versus farmers and the other has just started a youtube channel where he attempts tekkers.

But sure, Everton is the problem.

And he has developed from the 17 year old we signed from league one into a decent premier league player.

Just because he isn't Baresi doesn't mean we didn't develop him.

We signed Kean last year, he didn't want to stay.

We signed Godfrey this year, he is developing.

I expect we will add one player of this age group each year and then try to improve the squad with some better quality players who can contribute immediately like this past window with James, Allan, and Doucoure coming in alongside Godfrey.

This is just too much. How do you feel about Doucoure?

Doucoures Job is to break up play, win the ball, cover the gaps and genuinely be our legs in midfield. All of which he does superbly, iwobis job is to score/create goals, can you see why one of these players needs to pass forward more than the other?

He's one of those players that makes everyone else look good when he's on the pitch.

What I mean by that is everyone looks better in comparison because he's so bad and runs like he's just been bitten by a dog.
Described by one poetic Twitter user as running ‘like he’s took something out the oven with a damp tea towel and can’t find anywhere to put it down’.

I honestly can never unsee that.

Just you all wait until tomorrow when Carlo has him playing in his preferred position as a 10 and he's captain.

3 assists and 2 goals incoming

Good to see they've cleared the air and Iwobi demanded a tactical change via his subtle instagram post.

We should be thanking Alex, this tactical tweak will probably ensure CL football as he'll end up scoring about 9 goals and get 12 assists in the final stretch of matches.

That he's made far more of a contribution to our success this year than Alex Iwobi.

But please attempt an argument to convince me otherwise. Laughter is good for our health.
Funny thing being they have similar goals and assists per minute even though Doucoure plays much deeper and Doucoure has a higher % passing even though that's what people are saying is his weakness

Imagine.

We would all have to leave the forum.
