I just had a terrible thought. What if Moyes is really on the way out in a week or 2 and this is actually Big Sam's 1st everton signing. I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight.

now i'm not either.. why the [Poor language removed] did you have to say that.

i pray god i never see the day where everton have to custom tailor the neckhole on his everton tracksuit to accomodate that enormous head of his.

Id still love him to come.

2 mill is nothin ....really

And moyes will get his arse into shape!

Look at the yak now! Lazy at the start of the season and now he works hard. Even Yobo said that in an interview. (y)

Smith isn't lazy though, he's just not very talented.

We'rent we screaming out for bodies?

Im with Cal, for £2 squillion he's worth a pop.

Yep i'm with Cal too, it wasn't long ago Cal was getting bagged for wanting top notch players, now everyones saying Smith's not a good enough signing, hmmmm:blink:
Fact is he is as good, if not better than AJ, yeah he probably doesn't strengthen us that much (although he can fill in at DM) but we do make a tidy profit which will hopefully be used for a good CM.

*Cough* Eh.. no. At least not in a striker position.

Would much rather have AJ as a striker than Smith, so I really hope Moyes go after him for the midfield abilities.

What midfield abilities?? Smith is or at least was a natural forward.

Hello all.
I need to do some posting so that I can put images of chimps riding bicycles when we are linked to players like Smith

:toilet:

Who would you most liken smith to in our squad currently?

when you arrive at the answer, consider how often that player has been injured in the past 12-18 months, and take into mind how much we miss his energy and enthusiasm as well as HEADING ability.

If we want to be playing full strength in the league and the uefa, then players will be required to allow first teamers a rest or to cover in light of injuries and suspensions.

In essence squads need every position covered twice - so 22 players - right? although there are exceptions in cases where a phil neville can play across the back 4 or move to CM, or a lescott/baines, arteta/pienaar type versatility allows a bit of mix and match - but some positions require specialists.

depending on his wage demands i'd take a short term contract risk on smith or preferably a loan deal. let him prove himself capable of integrating himself into moyes plans and then judge. if i recall correctly there was a under21 international sat on a bench somewhere not getting games because the coach judged the player to have a bad attitude and be a bit too soft to cut it as a player... mikel whatsisname...?

Hello SuitsBlue,

Joking aside I agree with every word you say regarding the need to allow for doubling up in all positions and worries regarding TC's fitness. I don't think that Smith is the ideal back up though. I don't think he is a bargain either. Assuming that he is on 60k a week at NUFC it is unrealistic to expect him to sign up for less than 40K a week being that he is not an Evertonian. He is paid at 1st team rates and injuries permitting he would not get into the Everton first team. He seems expensive for a squad player. Imo.

In the end though if he signs up I'll support him.

I started a thead about smith at the very beginning of the summer an got laughed at.

I'd be well happy with smith if the money is right. If you can get him playing again, he could be very usefull.

I got told 19mnts (just before crimbo2007) ago about DM wantin Smudge, and I loved the idea. But i never came off.
If his does come to our club, then it will be with pleasure as he works hard and not really got the credit he deserves.

In Moyes I trust
