James Rodríguez returned to action today with Al-Rayyan after almost two months on the sidelines. The Colombian left Everton, and the rigours of the Premier League, for the less strenuous pace of the Qatar Stars League but he has yet to get into gear at his new club. - Laurent Blanc started him on the bench but brought him on after Hashim Ali quit the field injured just moments before their rivals took the lead through Sebastián Soria. James didn't have much contact with the ball during the first half but did get noticed for his striking, blue-rinsed hair - a look which drew many comments.

I thought for a second that the lad with blue hair kicked the ball and didn’t pull-up injured, but I’m sure we’ll be told just before kick-off that he’s out for another month…

Fair play to the lad, I didn't think he had what it takes to hack it in the mighty Qatar Stars League, but he just may turn out to be a decent addition at this level if he continues like this.
