Had an argument with my wife just before we went through security. She had convinced herself that we were not allowed food through security. She insisted on eating all the sandwiches I had made and binning off all the stuff I'd bought she couldn't eat. Then made us pay €8 for a dry sandwich the other side and some stuff on the flight. Of course her reaction when she found out she could take food was "well I didn't know did I?" Despite me begging her not to bin my ham and cheese slice

A lot of airports have drinking fountains now. Alternatively you can get most cafes to fill up a bottle for you if you ask. I always take an empty 500ml bottle to the airport for use on the plane.

Most planes have toilets now.

Never bothers me this, don't care who I sit next to for flights, I'm uncomfortable no matter who it is.

Re the cost of things in airports, it's perhaps worth considering that the floor rental and salaries are considerably higher than a corresponding shop on the high street. Many airports also want a percentage of sales, as the example below from San Francisco airport illustrates.

I know in Ireland all the shop employees in airports are agency workers on minimum wage
No extra for shift or weekends
You are given your 4 week roster a week in advance

Taxi food drink and a bit of duty free for the wife
