Makes sense, if he goes somewhere and is half decent (and he'll look decent at somewhere like Sunderland where they having nothing but utter dross), then they will pay actual money for him in the summer. After the Euro's too. Nobody will be bidding much for him at the minute.
 

The problem is that he is quite a tricky sell - the type of clubs he could make a difference at (probably Dagenham for example) can't afford his wages
 
Is he actually first choice for ireland?

I wonder if Martinez is loaning him out now in the hope that someone sees him in an ireland shirt and makes a £ bid for him....
Id just give him a free transfer myself and see if anyone wanted him but perhaps thats been tried with celtic already and they couldnt pay his wages.
